MGS4 Goodies
It’s a little late, but here are MGS4 unpacking pictures. Took them when the game was released, but forgot to blog them till now. In this blog, you’ll see MGS4 NA version, MGS4 JP version, and MGS4 OST.

Here’s how North American Limited Edition looks like. It comes with a nice, sturdy case with Shinkawa artwork. Here’s HQ version availabe here.

The top part comes off and you’ll get this:

The content: Making of Blu-Ray and the game itself.

Making of - front cover:

Making of - back:

Making of - inside. It comes with MGS4 soundtrack (not the complete version… it’s only one CD), the Making of Blu-Ray disk which is hidden behind the Spoiler Warning:

Spoiler Warning removed:

Spoiler Warning - front:

Spoiler Warning - back. It lists the chapters and track names for the sountrack.

Here’s the Japanese LE version of the game. It comes with even better casing. The case doesn’t have Shinkawa’s artwork, but the game itself does.

The Making of disk and MGS4 game. They should have made NA’s case like this too.

JP version comes with two covers… a normal cereal-box-quality-case cover which houses the good quality, sturdy cover. All the logos and text that nobody ever reads are on the first cover. The other cover is simply a cover. No text, no logos, no seasure warnings, no nothing. Simple and beautiful.

On the left, you see the game with Shinkawa’s work and on the right, you have Making of Blu-Ray in metalbox.

Making of - inside. Also comes with Spoiler Sarning.

MGS4 JP version - inside.

MGS4 JP version - inside with the booklet and game disk removed. I should note that the US version does not have the background artbook like the Japanese version here.

Booklet - inside. Another note, the North American version is black and white, whereas the JP version is in color!

More of the booklet. Notice the colors!

And finally, we have the Japan only soundtrack. It’s very beautiful. See-through from the back and Snake’s face on the from cover. It comes in 2 discs with 47 tracks. The NA version soundtrack you get with the LE only has 20 tracks.

You also get a booklet with it. Contains track info, lyrics and a lot more. They used some sort of speical paper. It’s almost transparent… kinda like the paper used in Metal Gear Saga booklet.

Cool stuff. What’s with the American booklet not being color? That always annoys me.

Yeah, it’s one of my pet peeves, but I guess they’re trying to cut cost. Japan has a lot less population that US, after all. They don’t need to produce as many JP version as NA or EU.

Yeah.. but in the LE too? That’s kinda.. eh..

Japan knows that people are suckers for LE stuff, so they tend to package games with more and better things.

you know, i remember PS1 booklets coming in color. most of the PS2 booklets are now B/W somehow.
the game cover for JP version is the lithograph from the guide, lol. that tin-like cover for the extras look real hot though.

We always get screwed in the cover department.
Really now, how does the picture of an old man with a stache attract people who don’t know about MGS into buying it?
If someone were to tell me that they know a senior citizen who bought the game for themselves or a grandson, I’d like to hear that story (if it’s true)
