MGS: The Essential Collection

Gaming, MGS

So I called my local Gamestop and asked if they have received MGS: The Essential Collection yet. They had. I used to get an automatic phone call from them every time I had a game pre-ordered with them upon its release, but I haven’t been getting those calls lately. Here’s how the box looks like:

Pretty nice, eh? I love how they used Shinkawa’s work on all the covers. Hopefully they’ll do the same with MGS4. I know KojiPro already released a picture of how MGS4 box looks like, but Ryan said that’s not how the final product will look like. Let’s keep our fingers crossed; I don’t want Solid Snake’s last mission to have an ugly cover like MGS3’s. That was butt-ugly (no offense KojiPro). They shouldn’t use CG and renders for cover and promotional art when they have Shinkawa.

Here are some more pictures of the container box. I’m glad to see Meryl’s codec number is still on the back. Funny thing about that, I actually went through this MGS1 booklet and noticed they have Meryl’s number listed along with everybody else’s on one page. Heh~

Look how they’re all color-coded. The only issue I have is that the booklets are black & white, but I can’t really complain since the price tag is only $29.99. And for those who are curious, yes, MGS1 disks are the original PS1 CD’s. Ahhh, good times.

Sexy, no?

MGS1 has to be my favorite MGS title. MGS3 comes close because of its ending. I like how it made me shed tears for The Boss. It was one of my gaming moments. MGS2 was good too - a little confusing plot-wise, but it was a good game. Deltahead has a good plot analysis of MGS2 for those who are interested. The author, James Clinton Howell, was on KP Report last time. Read the article, it’s really good (and long!).

I’m planning on playing through all three before MGS4 is released. How about you guys? Anybody else picking up Essential Collection? And what is your favorite MGS title?

Which is your favorite MGS title?
