FFVII: Crisis Core

Well, Crisis Core was released today, so I decided to blog about it. I haven’t played the game yet, so I can’t write about it. I’ll be doing that some other time. More pictures after the jump.

The cover (image above), has a nice and simple cover. It would have caught my eyes even if I didn’t know anything about Final Fantasy. I hope MGS4’s cover be similar (in simplicity I mean).

My buddy, Jeremy, who’s an assistant manager at my local EB, also gave me these UMD holders. It’s pretty nice. It actually holds the UMD tight. I had a couple of UMD cases before (came with Death JR. preorder), but they were pretty crappy. This one has a cool Shin-Ra logo on it too. On the back, it has FFVII Crisis Core’s logo. It’s a good case; nice and sturdy.

Here’s the back cover. Not that it matters, but I wish they could remove all those text at the bottom of games, movies, and whatnot. There should put it somewhere hidden — inside the case beneath the booklet or something. That way, there is more room for back-cover art.

I like Sony’s idea of having transparent cases. Both PS3 and PSP have them and it allows developers to pretty-up even the inside of the case. It really does make a difference. It makes paying $40, $50, or $60 a little easier.

Booklets are my favorites. Not all developers actually spend time on these *cough*EA*cough*, but some, like KojiPro, Level 5, and Square-Enix, do. Again, these are not big deals, but it just shows that they care about the products they release. Crisis Core’s booklet is actually a small poster. You can open it up and get this:

And another thing most developers do: black & white booklets. What’s up with that? Maybe it’s just me, but every time I see a black and white booklet, I think cheaply of the game. Some black & white booklets are fine because developers made it as if it was meant to be b&w (like Portable Ops +). Anywho, Crisis Core has a nice, all-color booklet.

And here’s the UMD. I guess there isn’t much room to do anything with it. Heh.

I have to make a confession: I have not played FFVII yet. No, I’m not joking. So today’s poll is:

I had to force myself through FFVII, hoping that it’d get better. And it never did. The plot just got more confusing/convoluted, the characters were no longer all that charming.. Blargh. Whatever.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the Nomura-ized FFs, but Crisis Core just seemed cool. Because I like Zack.

Hopefully I’ll get to play it soon.

The only RPG’s I’ve ever beaten were FFX-2 and FFXII, so hopefully I’ll like this one enough to beat it.

      Nice avatar ;]

That’s kind like Seeing the sequel before the first one. Although it’s not quite a sequel, more like a prequel/alternative storyline.

I’ve been watching my brother play it a lot and the battle system reminds me of KH. The slot machine thingy makes the game leave more up to chance than skill.

The graphics are beautiful, but I’m
not a fan of the music.
