Ergo Proxy: Episode 13

An infected Iggy becomes enraged and kidnaps Re-l, setting out to kill Vincent. Re-l is again confronted by the homeless AutoReiv who thinks killing Re-l would bring back his dead master.

If you recall last time, Re-l ordered Iggy to take the dead body of the Proxy to Romdo. As an AutoReiv, Iggy cannot refuse her direct order, but as this episode begins, we see Iggy thinking and using logic to find a reason to defy her order. Iggy’s red eyes tell us he’s been infected with the Cogito Virus.

Iggy returns to the cave where Vincent, Pino, and Re-l where staying till the storm cleared up. After he lands, the homeless AutoReiv starts attacking the ship. Realizing the AutoReiv wants its dead master back, Iggy opens to container and gives him to it. Iggy again rationalizes his existence after seeing the homeless AutoReiv. He says he exists to serve Re-l and to take care of her. If something happens to Re-l, if she dies or leaves Iggy, Iggy’s existence becomes obsolete. And so he decided to take Re-l back to Romdo, whether she wants it or not.

Iggy find Re-l and knocks her out. He puts her in the cryochamber. It was interesting to see Iggy act and talk normal for a change. Now that Iggy’s infected, he doesn’t have to follow Re-l’s orders, so he stops talking as if he’s a gay AutoReiv. Moving on… Iggy decided to kill Vincent in order to force Re-l to go back to Romdo. So he leaves the ship and goes after Vincent. After he leaves, the homeless AutoReiv sneaks in and starts attacking the cryochamber. He wants to kill Re-l.

After finding Vincent, Iggy points Re-l’s gun at him (remember how Re-l had special Proxy-killing bullets?), but before he can do anything Vincent’s Proxy-side takes over and knocks Iggy down. Iggy, knowing he doesn’t have a change against a Proxy, runs away. Meanwhile, the homeless AutoReiv breaks through the glass of cryochamber, but Re-l manages to escape and starts running away. Iggy, Vincent, and Re-l run into each other, but the homeless AutoReiv jumps on Re-l and starts “ticking” (as if it was about to explode). Iggy quickly grabs the AutoReiv (who was on top of Re-l) and starts running away from Re-l. Vincent dives and covers Re-l as the homeless AutoReiv, along with Iggy, blow up.
