After 4 years, Shaman King is finally getting an actual ending. For those who don’t know, 4 years ago, the author, Hiroyuki Takei, ended Shaman King right before the climax. This was due to decline in popularity (thank you very much, Bleach), but now they’re having these “re-print” volumes (a.k.a. Kang Zeng Bang or the Complete Edition) with extra new chapters. And the last volume will be a whole new volume that’s said to give an actual ending to the series. Every month, two new Complete Edition volumes are being release — the first two being released this month.
I ordered my copy from beNippon in the beginning of March and just yesterday I received them. Each volume is 1120¥ which is about $11 USD. Shipping was another $10 which is a good price considering they’re imports. Do you guys import stuff? If yes, what websites you usually do your business with?
Took some pictures for today’s blog. Remember, you can click on these images to enlarge them.
All the new volumes come with new cover art and a clear image overlays on the covers. Below, you can see volume one’s the actual cover without the overlay.
What are some of your favorite manga?

I have the three Cowboy Bebop Mangas (Not Shooting Star). Haven’t read the third one yet. I tried branching out into other manga so I bought GTO The early years vol. 1. I liked the anime and I have read about two pages it and haven’t touched it in awhile. I don’t know. I guess I haven’t found one that really captures my interest.

Hmm~ What do you look for when you open up a manga? I personally look at the drawing style first, if I like, I’ll see if I like the story. The art comes first though because that’s what keeps me going.
My friend reads GTO and I’ve seen a few chapters. He said good things about it, but since I didn’t find the drawing attractive, I didn’t pick it up.
I think that’s what you should do too — see what made you like Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell. Was it the story? The characters? The art? It makes finding other titles you might like easier.

I suppose I look at the art first, although I couldn’t see the inside of GTO, it was shrink wrapped because of boobies. But, I didn’t really like the art when I did open it.
I looked into the GITS manga on the net and it looked like the art style of movies rather than SAC (I didn’t like the movies).
It’s difficult to say what sparked my interest in Bebop and GITS. Maybe it was the art or the characters or the smart dialog, maybe the pacing or all of the above.
I would appreciate some recommendations for a Bebop, GITS fan.

I’d recommend Fullmetal Alchemist, but the story is kinda complicated (think MGS2) and is hard to follow. I had to read some volumes twice~
Samurai Champloo is good, but it’s only two volumes. The story follows the anime, but never finishes. It kinda leaves you hanging.
These are some titles I hear are good, but haven’t tried personally: Berserk, Claymore, One Piece, and Death Note. I tried Air Gear and Death Eater and they’re alright.
Check out MangaTraders [ http://www.mangatraders.com/ ]. You can try them over there. It also gives you a recommended list based on the title you’re looking at.

Fullmetal - seen the anime, very good.
Samurai Champloo - of course I’ve seen this.
Berserk - art style didn’t click with me.
One Piece - too long, too lame.
Death Note - this one sounds interesting. I’ve seen a few episodes of the anime. Very intriguing.
Don’t know much about the other three you mentioned, I’ll check them out.
I did some Amazon shopping a little bit ago and I found a couple that sounded good. Hellsing and Excel Saga. Know anything about them?

Oh, yeah~ Hellsing is good. I haven’t read the manga, but I’ve seen episodes of the anime. It’s really good. Give it a shot.
I don’t know anything about Excel Saga though.

My favorite manga are Bleach, BLAME!, Overman King Gainer, Death Note.. well, I have a lot.
Hellsing’s manga is amazing. The anime series is mediocre. The OVA, which follows the manga nigh-prefectly, is AWESOME.
