I came across this image today while researching photos to use for a blog. Apparently it's not real, but what I want to know is, is this type of tattoo even possible? Could somebody (with enough skill) really draw this on someone's arm? Because if you find me a girl with this tattoo on her arm I'll marry her in a second, and I'm not really even a "tattoo" kinda guy. They're fine and all, but I don't have any. Anyway:

I'm no tattoo expert, but that's not really that complicated. I saw a documentary on tattoos and Discovery and they showed some crazy Yakuza tattoos (http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoo_museum/images/28%20Chrysanthemums%20and%20Water.jpg).

The fading effect she has going on might not be possible though~

Man, you guys need to watch Miami Ink or LA Ink sometime. They make tattoos that are way more intricate and complicated than that one.

Well that's mostly what I was getting at, the fading effect. How awesome is that?

I would totally get Kazuma's (from Yakuza) tatoo, if I could stomach the pain and was big enough to have it fit.

Because THAT is badass.

Agreed.

Of course, you should have the body to back it up too. Imagine being obese and having that dragon on your back distorted to hell because of the fat rolls.

That's right, I put that image into your mind.

It would only be really cool if you had 2 other guys to get the other Dragon and the Carp one as well.

As for possibility, Anythings possible, although you'd have to find a really, REALLY good Tattoo artist

Now that I think about it, the fading is possible... they just have to use a lighter ink. It's a bitch to pull off, but it should be possible~

You guys underestimate how complicated that tattoo is, it's what's called a 'fractal' and the images are made up of small versions of the same images, and those too, so on and so on, past the point where the human eye can't percieve the details any longer.

So, no it's not possible, not really, fractals go on forever, however you could make it appear to be a fractal, when in fact you only go small enough so that no one can tell they ended.

So the answer is yes, and no.

Hmm... I suppose it could be possible. A very skilled tattoo artist could do it. The image isn't quite detailed enough to tell but if someone is good enough at messing with the eye, yes it's possible.

Spling! Robobvious gets the cookie for recognizing that it was a fractal, which is the keyword I used to find the image on google in the first place!

Still, though, guys-- you find me a chick with this or something similar on her arm, gimmee her number.

I just wanted to say I got a tattoo on my back on the 10th of this month, and the edging hurt, but the coloring was alright. All of those little tattoo's put together would hurt like hell.

I wish I could show you, but I don't have my camera right now.:(

That's a shame, make sure you throw a pic up on this thread when you can.

What is it a picture of?

I don't think I could ever get a tattoo. Some are incredibly cool looking, but as far as simply getting a tattoo for as an accessory and not a symbol of something important... I'm not much of a fan.

That's how I am, I've been thinking of getting one for my grandfather (deceased), and one for my three sisters (who are still alive).

For my grandfather I was thinking of either a tattoo or having dogtags made, if I got a tat it would be the army's Master Sergeant symbol on my arm. (that was his rank when he left the army).

For my sisters something Celtic, with the number 3 incorporated, and maybe their names or birthdates.

If someone's deceased when they're dead are they ceased when they're alive? What if we bring them back from the dead, are they receased?
