I just joined and decided I should greet everyone. I was directed to this site when I went to visit some of my old stomping grounds on 1up - namely the anime and rpg tournaments.

It's funny how many things can change over the years, isn't it?

Anyway, hello again and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Oh, you're from 1up? Most of us have our roots in 1up as well. Others are more or less refugees. What was your name on 1up?

Anyways, welcome to the site! I'm Red Wizard, captain of the Grammar Police. Feel free to share a little more about yourself. I'm god here.

It's nice to meet you Wizard. My name on 1up was (still is) Solmegiddo.

Some more about myself:

I graduated from college in 2008 with a degree in Animation. Recently, I finished working on a tv show for Nick Jr. called The Wonder Pets. I enjoy reading, drawing, playing video games, and watching movies.

The occasional long walk on the beach is nice as well.

I never saw the Bleach anime, but I have read some of the manga. I liked it alot, but haven't kept up with it.

Welcome to our community, Duke.

Animation, eh? What programs do you use? I messed around with Maya and Poser a few years back, but those are way outta my league.

DukeBryson

Typically, I use After Effects and Flash when I animate. I've had some experience with Maya and 3D Studio Max, but I never really got into them.

Yeah, I have some work online.

I can't post links yet so, I'll need to be a little creative here....

That my public profile from which you can view all my videos. Some work is more finished than others, and some of it is kinda old.

Holy crap. That Moby-Dick one blew me away.

So, you're like a professional. Damn, I'm envious.

DukeBryson

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I'm a professional, in that people have hired me to do work, but honestly, I still feel like an amateur. There's still so much to learn, you know?

Also, thanks for the warm welcome you guys :D

Hello! I am AlucardsFate! You will learn to love me! Or be frustrated by me...or both!

One question:

You have a surekill attack. What is it called? How do you summon it? Does it have any special items?

(So that was Three...sue me...)

a)It's called Eye of the Beholder.

b)I summon it by channeling all my mana through the my sword named, The Speedstick of Ambiguous Fates.

c)Tacos.

Solmegiddo? Heeeey, I remember you. You were one of the very first people to join the anime tournament back in the day. Way back before it was an actual tournament, even -- back when it was just "Anime Fights." Man, that was a long time ago. Glad to see that you're still alive and kicking.

Glad to see that you're still alive and kicking.

Yep, I'm still alive. I dropped off the face of the earth for a while because school kept me incredibly busy. Do you remember the Anti-Aeris Haters club where we tackled the issue of people hating Aeris for no other reason than "Aeris is teh stoopid. Cloud and Tifa 4 EVAR <3?"

Good times.

Ha ha ha, I remember that. Good times indeed. The funny part is that I don't even care about Aeris all that much. I just enjoyed messing with the haters.

Oh, what rascally hijinks we pursued.

I was "egmmer" on 1up. I didn't know most of the people here on 1up before joining Foxkei except for a few people like AlucardsFate. I had my own group of friends I was a part of from 2004 to 2006. A lot of people I knew left 1up, so it was like I was starting all over again. Well, here I am.

I was in the same boat as you. I had a small group of friends that I would talk to and generally enjoyed it. Nowadays, 1up is like a ghost town when I visit all the old clubs and my friends' pages. I guess I always assumed it would be the same as it was in 2004, even after the UGO buyout.

There's still some activity with the newer members, but it's not the same. I knew what it was like back when and now can only reminisce. I haven't completely abandoned 1up but I do miss the old days.

There were a bunch of things that I was unhappy about 1up, but I stayed for the longest time because of the community. Why else would I tolerate not having the ability to preview posts or the absence of blogging tools for the longest time? People were so jaded about 1up not working a lot of the time that they saw any change or upgrade to the site. I stuck around 1up from 2004 to 2009, even when the site was more broken was usual at times.

I was getting fed up with 1up and the UGO fallout was what made me leave 1up. I returned for a while to help SnakeEyez with the Anime and RPG Tournaments, but once both tourneys moved to Foxkei, I was done with 1up.

I'm one of, if not the only, person who still regularly blogs after leaving 1up.

Another one of the 1up old guard eh? You may or may not recognize me then! I flew under the radar around there but was around for a long time...

Too bad we don't all blog anymore eh? Especially Brian...he was great at it. Now look at him...in "School" what does school do for anyone?

Alucards, I think I remember you from some of the clubs.

I still blog on occasion. I've moved over to blogspot, but its more of an online portfolio where I post my recent drawings, doodles, comics, and whatnot. Its an easy way to point people to my work in lieu of an actual website.

Fedaykin and ChukoLiang, thank you for stopping in and saying hello. There are cookies on the table over there.

Welcome to the boards Bryson! You might have seen me around 1UP, I started posting there in 2003, I always used the Wild Arms cover art for my avatar. I've stopped in recent years though, it's... ugh, it used to be so much better let's just say that.

I take courses in Animation in school now, senior year of high school, this is my 4th year with ACAD and 2nd year with 3dsmax, hoping to learn a little Maya this year. I also enjoy making flip books with sticky note pads and drawing in general. My favorite anime is Cowboy Bebop but FLCL is probably in my top 5 animes somewhere. Great show, I made this attachment for you as a welcoming present.

Tune in, Turn on, Drop Out, your in our world now.

Eyebrows!?

Hahaha that's great! Thank you!

Flip books are great fun. I haven't made one in a while and every time I come up with an idea for one, it spirals out of control and turns into something way to vast and epic to be contained in a flip book.

It's extremely awesome that your high school provides animation courses. I really wish mine did.

Your welcome!

Yeah haha, the last few I made had a cow get abducted by a flying saucer, with a sweet looking tractor beam. Flip books are awesome.

Yeah it's great experience, wish Wellness wasn't required elective (not really an elective if it's required, eh?) for freshman and sophomore years, otherwise I would've been taking art since freshman year alongside CAD and Animation.
