I'm interested to see the price of the PS3 slim...also the price cuts.

That was a pretty good press conference.
They did a lot, and hopefully it pays off.
Hell, I'm tempted to re-buy a PSP now, with Persona 3 coming to the PSP, and getting a free copy of GT when it comes....

PS3 slim looks nice. But my is will it have any Backwards Compatibility?
*EDIT* It has PSone compatibility only. I hate you Sony....

PS3 Slim is one ugly mofo.
About time they added more avatars.

They have added more, at least, since it's started.
And personally, I don't think it looks that bad...or at least, not as bad as those early "prototypes" that looked like a hunk of Plastic.
This has a believable sheen to it.

every news source said the conference was supposed to be like 3 hours long, not half an hour.
I hate sony press conferences. They talk too much about sales and shit. EA has the best, at ea, gamescon or where ever. They strictly talk about games

I don't see the big deal about the PS3 slim not having backwards compatibility. If you're looking to play PS2 games, you're better off getting a PS2 slim, which you can find for cheap. You can also play PS1 games on the PS2 without running into problems you may have with playing it on the PS3.
That being said, true PS2 backwards compatibility would be nice.

Concurred. It's smaller sure...but it's...so bland. Lacks the PS3's elegant look. PS3 was the most expensive sure...but it at least LOOKED the part...I feel like I would break that one...

a lot of people probably sold there ps2 when they got there ps3. My ps2 broke a while ago and my ps3 doesnt have Backwards compatibility. I don't wanna go spend a hundred bucks to get a new ps2 when the ps3 should already have that feature. I haven't been able to play persona 4 or devil summoner 2 yet.

Well if they sold it...that's their problem...
If it broke? Well...take care of your stuff. I have one of the old bulky PS2's....and she works like new!
If you do take care of your stuff...those slim PS2's really ain't so expensive. And like Devon hinted at...the Backward compatibility on the PS3's is emulation only. So it does have issues. (Unless you have one of the launch ones with the emotion engine actually in it) Even if it had BC...I'd have my PS2 at the ready anyway...it just works better. (Just like even though the PS3 has PSX compatibility...I have a PSone anyway..same for my PS2 playing PSX games...while it plays most any of them...every PS2 I've ever seen has been fickle with certain PSX discs. Though it changes from Console to Console. Mine hates Driver and FF7. Though they work on my Brother's...)

its not like i play football with my ps2, my old one(phat one)stopped working because of dust issues, my last one the slim, just stopped reading discs all together.
Faulty hardware ships all the time.

Dust issues eh? That's rectifiable. I have popped mine open several times and cleaned it up.
The slim...I haven't used much. My brother has one...But I don't really know of any issues with it. (I'm not saying there isn't...I don't pay attention to it. Like the PS3 slim...I like my chunky one's look better)

I've heard slim PS2's can have overheating issues if played for a long time straight. I'm talking 10 hour marathons...well I guess any system can overheat if played like that, so who knows. I have an old school bulky PS2 and it still works fine.
The PS3 slim is $299, eh? A blueray player by itself is roughly $250. That's quite a deal. Methinks I will buy one of these PS3 slims, cuz the price is finally affordable to me.

I dunno...if I needed to replace my PS3 for some reason...I'd find the fat one. That slim looks dumb...

But if I'm anything...with my characters and devices...I'm big on aesthetics. And that PS3 slim looks stupid. I don't want it among my devices.

Hear that? Ugly like a butt it is indeed...
The price cut alone would have been sufficient...

I may just have to do this. OR try to find the original 80GB SKU which has PS1 and 2 bc. I just don't wanna have to buy two consoles ya know.

One reason why I didn't bring my PS3 with me to school was because it was so heavy. The PS3 slim would have been a different story, regardless of how it looks.
I bought a PS2 slim two months ago because I left my PS2 fat at school and needed to play some PS2 games. Had I known that the slim would be small and lightweight, I would have bought it at the beginning of my freshman year and brought that with me instead of the fat.
Here's hoping that the PS3 slim doesn't come with its own set of problems.

The only downside right now with the ps3 slim is current ps3 owners wouldnt be able to transfer and there shit to the slim, unless there using an external hard drive. But who knows if that will be supported.

Well, you could connect an external drive and do a backup of your system. Then restore to the PS3 slim afterwards.

Maybe, the slim already took out linux os, who knows what else they will take.
