Well that's sort of the point no? Though 5 points sounds a little much, that way it is less likely to be overused and thus be taking seriously. At least that's what I think.

I think there should be groans which deduct rep, and also facepalms that don't have such severe consequences (don't deduct rep) but still show that you've gotten on peoples' nerves.

Exactly! It'd be a consequence-free option, so you could "facepalm" somebody whenever you saw fit! Of course, it would still have some restrictions like the "thanks" button, so you'd have to spread the love around a little bit.

A Facepalm button and a Groan button? Slow your roll there, pardner. That region underneath our avatars is getting pretty cluttered as is. I don't think we can fit much more down there.

Personally, I like the whole concept of the Groan button...except "Facepalm" sounds better. So I guess all I'm really asking for is a name change. What's your take on this, Hombre?

Yeah 5 rep points is kinda harsh, but that's the point. To only use the groan button when the situation really calls for it, not whenever someone disagrees with someone or something like that. Having a 'facepalm' button with no consequesnces to its use; people would just use it all the time and it would loose its cool and meaning so to speak.
