As suggested by Robobvious in the Currently Playing (http://www.foxkei.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18&page=269)thread, I felt that this was too universal and brilliant an idea to pass up. I'll get the ball rolling.
The most recent issue I've had is with my DS. It's still a DS phat, and the left shoulder button has started to stick.
Of course, that's not the most exciting/sad tale of broken controller-ism I have to offer, no.
About two years back (or so) I was playing a game of Mario Strikers Charged. I was in one of the higher up cups, and the game was being cheap and frustrating me BEYOND comprehension. In a fit of rage, I was banging my Wii-mote around (I BELIEVE on my leg, but I can't recall now). Suddenly, while playing the game, I realize that the Wii-mote is suddenly not registering my shakes for the tackle function.
I go to training mode to test my theory. The same applies.
I slap in Twilight Princess to see if wasn't just the game. Turns out in my fit of rage I broke the damn gyroscope within the Wii-mote. And grant you, this is when Wii-motes were somewhat harder to come by. I of course shelled out the $40 to get the new stupid piece of plastic, but kept the old one in my dresser drawer as a constant reminder that anger has a place and time, but needs to be properly conveyed in an intellegent manner and preferably not with the result of breaking expensive stuff that I own.
...I also kept it as a reminder to what I will do to ALL WHO INCITE MY WRATH.

Knock on wood, I never had any problems with my controllers. Never broke them, never lost them. Nothing.

Haha, way to steal my idea. (At least you gave me credit though) :)
When I was younger I'd get really pissed at games when things continued to not go my way. I'd grip the controller in my hand 'till my knuckles turned white and bang it against my leg, but I never really seemed to break any of my controllers. I had controllers that broke gradually over time, buttons would stick or become less responsive to the point it made games unplayable, but I don't think my anger ever wound up breaking any controllers directly. Over time though I saw several N64 controllers and a Genesis one become useless.
Now that I'm older I rarely get so angry, and if I do instead of taking it out on a controller I go put a ton of weight on my dad's machine and work out for a few. That's what I did for the kill X soldiers sidemissions in Crisis Core, I lost once after a twenty minute long killing spree or something. I was pissed, lol.

Not my intention to steal good sir. But it seemed like such a great idea I would assist you in its implementation! :D
That's what I do these days too. Working out or just generally turning the game off for a little bit and doing anything else goes a long way.

I have some bad luck with controllers. I've had three 360 controllers so far that have malfunctioned in some way. My current one doesn't load for example. But I've never broken any controller in a fit of rage though. I did throw my flip flop at the wall once when I played Ninja Gaiden on hard though haha.

The only controller I've ever broken is an N64 controller while playing Donkey Kong 64. Those who have played the game will undoubtedly remember that annoying, cheap, cheating motherf***ing bug that you have to race in the Aztec level for a golden banana. Dear God, I hate that thing. To this day, I still hate that damn bug. Anyway, you probably know how the rest of the story goes by now, but after trying (unsuccessfully) to beat him after dozens and dozens of attempts, I finally collect the required amount of coins and make a mad dash to the finish line, only to have that damn bug come up from behind me and knock me out of the way while I was five steps away from the finish line. N64 controller, meet floor. Floor, meet N64 controller. No, there's no time for lengthy introductions -- you'll be getting to know each other far too quickly for that.
I eventually did win that race (with a different controller, obviously), but still...f*** that bug. F*** him hard.

guh, I've broken one controller on every single console except for the 360.
And actually...the Brick DS, which I've had ever since it first came out...is starting to look a bit solemn.
I did, afterall, throw it against the wall a couple times and use it as a stress reliever. But it still works perfectly fine!!

Am I the only one without anger issues?

I don't really think it's a matter of anger issues, honestly. I think there's a bigger issue of you hide or bottle up anger as opposed to releasing it. GRANT YOU, there's a far more constructive (and less DE-structive) way to do so, but I can think of far worse things than taking out frustration on the nearest piece of plastic (at the time).
And some games ARE just that frustrating. Soul Calibur III nearly drove me to madness.

this thread should be called "controller hell", because that's where these controllers go.

I agree. Why exactly WAS this thread named Controller Heaven?

wait, soul calibur 3 was frustrating for you? Why? Trying to get to Night Terror, or just Chronicles of the Sword?
(that was directed towards OoF, by the way)

I've never broken a controller in rage. I tend to just clench my fist and grunt angrily when I get mad at a game.
I have had a few controller break though. One was an N64 controller, it was one of those cheap third party controllers and one day for no reason the Left shoulder button broke and would just lay flat, doomed to forever be pressing "L" (it was this that inspired me to only use first party)
I also had a PS2 controller break. I was playing one day and one of my dogs came into my room. I love him to death, but he's as dumb as a bag of hammers. I'm not sure how he managed it, but somehow he got tangled in the controller wire, panicked, and bolted out the door. Next thing I know the controller shoots out of my hand out the door and slams into the wall across from my room. Both of the "2" shoulder buttons broke off, and I snapped the caps back in. It worked fine for a while but eventually I started having trouble with the L2 button registering.

It was named Controller heaven because that was what I originally purposed the thread idea as, had you guys commented prior to it's birth that Controller Hell would have been more suitable then I would have wound up making it and the name would have been thusly different. But no one really had anything to say about it at the time.
Also another thing I learned to do rather than break my controllers, but when still overcome with rage, was I'd start to punch things but stop myself just before I did. Causing no damage but venting the seething hatred into the air around me.
And Alucard made me laugh, of course anyone with the patience to beat that crazy hard Castlevania game (Dracula X I believe it was?) would have good anger control.

*Edit* Robobvious already answered that question, so I've removed my response to it*

Actually no, I liked Chronicles of the Sword. That was about the only thing about III I DID like.
The game was just too unbalanced. I let that go to a certain extent in most fighting games, but no game like SC III. The designers and programs specifically left it the same as the unbalanced arcade version because they figured "Well, we're putting it onto home systems. It's not that big a deal right?"
...YES. Yes it IS that big a deal.
Additionally, I honestly didn't think SC III LOOKED that great. SC II had detailed facial expressions and stunning texturing. SC III had some good backgrounds, but the character models were attrocious. I was also generally underwhelmed by the character creator, considering I've seen better ones in the few wrestling games I've played.
SC III was easily my least favorite game in the series. I still haven't played IV but I intend to rectify that...someday.
Anyway, since Hobo brought up just generally crappy controllers...I have a few...all of course third party.
I have a GCN controller. I bought it specifically because it was Spider-Man and I was very much on a Spider-Man kick at the time. Even though I KNEW that 3rd party controllers were ass, I tried it anyway. Well, ignoring the sticky joysticks, the analog stick's top came off. Apparently it was being held in place by glue or something. Additionally, my cat came along and chewed said analog stick (yes chewed the stick. This is apparently not uncommon in my house, as our miniature daschund puppy recently chewed off the top of one of my good controllers) so now not only does it suck, it's uncomfortable to play with.

Crappy controller eh? Any N64 controller besides that first grey one were more blocky, I never liked how they sit in my hands. And I have some shitty wireless Nyko PS2 controllers that are a bitch to get working.

We had some pretty crappy N64 controllers ourselves. As far as I know that was the rise of the "crappy third party peripheral" tradition many companies lovingly carry out so strongly today. I also had a crappy memory card so I could play Mystical Ninja 64: Starring Goemon...and nothing else. But that's okay. That game was awesome placed on top of happiness.

bah, III was a good game. I didn't like 2!
I've gone through five PS2 controllers, as in, I've broken three and two work. Sort of. Maybe even more, that doesn't count the crappy wireless POS I got.
