View Full Version : Shiritori (Forum Game)

This is game where one names a word which starts with the final character of the previous word. Read Wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiritori) for more info.
So I posted this thread here because if you're reading this, that means you watch anime. And those who watch anime, pick up Japanese words!
.:: Rules ::.
Players are required to say a word which begins with the final character of the previous word. Let's make this game easier by allowing users to also post NAMES of characters (have to be Japanese names -- i.e. "Asakura" is fine, but "Lelouch" is not) or TITLE (i.e. you can use "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi", but not "Fullmetal Alchemist") of anime or manga.
.:: Clarify ::.
Let's clarify our post with a few words or a link to show we're not making things up. Example:
Hagane
- from "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Hagane+no+Renkinjutsushi&btnG=Search)" (Fullmetal Alchemist)or
Ringo
- Japanese for "apple"
.:: Where to Begin ::.
Unless the word ends in "n" ("san") or double-vowels ("shii", "tou", "mei"), the next word has to begin with the last two characters of the previous word. Example:
Tsunami
Mika
Kaban.:: Words end with "n" ::.
In the above example, the last word ended in "n", so the next person can use a word that starts with any of the following: "na, ni, nu, ne, no". Example:
Kaban
Neko or Nani or Nihon, etc..:: Double-Vowels ::.
If the word ends in a double-vowel, the new word has to begin with the final vowl (the last character). Example:
Tanoshii
itsuka
kashikoi
izuma.:: "shi" & "chi" ::.
Words that end with "shi" and "chi" are exception as well. Instead of using the last two characters, the next word needs to use the last three. So instead of beginning with "hi", the word needs to begin with "shi" or "chi". Example:
tomodachi
chihiro.:: "tsu" ::.
Words that end with "tus" are another exception. Instead of using the last characters ("u"), the next word needs to start with "tsu". Example:
bikotsu
tsugi----------------------------------------------
Let's begin.
sushi
- Heh... no clarification needed.
(so the next word needs to begin with "shi")
