I do? Well okay...

I've been at the hospital the past two days...visiting someone...My time around here will be limited till she gets out of there.....

I had a job interview earlier today...I should know around Friday if anything comes of it. He promised to call me and tell me if I got it...or if I didn't.

Other then that...lots of Age Of Empires 3.....

And I've been listening to a ton of "The Greatest Band In The World. Period."

I'm really diggin "Wonderboy" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F85sWIybFk0)

That's right! IT'S THE D!

Well...I mentioned that my past week....has been assy...shitty to say the least...

It started on Monday...when my mom went into surgery...she needed this back surgery for a while...

They told us when she would be out of surgery...she wasn't out until 3 hours later...we were all nervously waiting for her...

She was in the hospital till Saturday...dealing with the hospitals mostly rude staff....

On top of which...I had a job interview week ago...and I even got it....I was wary about leaving her...

But I worked over the weekend...

First off...this place is so disorganized...all that keeps happening...is my boss shoves me into whatever menial task he doesn't wanna do...rather then train me for what I was hired for...

Now I don't have a car...but my brother's work hours are the same as the ones I was given...so we agreed that I would just go with him and he'd drop me off on the way.

I went to go see if he was ready...(30 mins early even) and he was gone...

He had either forgotten or had to get there early. (He is a manager at his work after all...I think there are only 2-3 people over him, one of them is the company's owner...)

Now...I'm not a religious man by any means...I am vaguely sorta religious...

But I think it may have been providence that he left me...

As I was the only one around to help my mom...

It's become abundantly clear to me that I can't go anywhere till she can....(As I'm the only one with the night owl hours to help her out...and we will at that point go to my job fallback plan..cause believe it or not...I do have a guaranteed job waiting in the wings...which is why I've been so nonchalant about the job hunt to begin with...

Such is the way of things...there is one thing that has really pissed me off...but that's something else...I've told someone about it...but I don't feel like sharing that publicly just yet...

I find hospitals to be one of the absolute most depressing places to be in. My mother has been an RN for more than 20 years now and everytime I visit her workplace, it depresses the hell out of me.

Probably one of the reasons I backed out of my original career plan to be a respiratory therapist.

I feel bad about your Mom, I'll hope and pray for her speedy recovery.

As for providence, I highly doubt that. Shit happens. You shouldn't try to explain things that are unexplainable, you'll just get a headache over it.

Who knows, your brother may have had some urgent business come up.

As for your boss not doing what he should be, is there anyone higher you can complain to about your boss to?

If your job description doesn't say ANYTHING about doing those menial tasks your idiot boss is asking you to do, you need to speak up, especially if you're in there for training purposes.

guh, getting a job over in my area is hard because of that whole "downspiral in economy" thing. But since you can do that whole graveyard shift thing, I guess there's no real worry.

Hope the best for your mom though, cause after my experience in a hospital, as well as visiting my grandma in it, has really made me hate the place.

I tried to get a job last summer, but two things worked against me. First, summer in South Florida is not a busy season for businesses. Second was the economy. I did an internship at my congressman's office, but it was unpaid volunteer work. I'll try again to get a job this summer. This time, I'll try to get connections through my family and friends, which should hopefully increase my chances of getting a job.

Like Baber and Komodo said, I find hospitals to be depressing places.

I hope the best for your mom.

In other news, since my birthday just rolled by...I have come into some money...

All of you know that their are games I want....

Castlevania: Order Of Ecclesia
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Valkyria Chronicles
Castlevania Judgement (Only cause of the name)

Just to name a few...

Now...I can't get all of them...and the only one that is getting purchased for sure...is OOE obviously...(I've been poking around online the past couple days...I'm trying to squeak a deal...stretch that dollar)

I won't be buying Judgement...unless its cheap...very cheap...

Another idea that popped into my head though...

Preorder Street Fighter 4...

Whaddia think?

Heiae
01-24-2009, 03:46 PM
Of course I'm going to say Street Fighter IV, though I have to say Valkyria needs more support, because that amazing game didn't sale as well as it should have.

Yeah...I don't have that much...

And if I did...I'd sooner buy Judgment...(It's cheaper)

The last thing I need is another console I won't have time for...

On second thought...if I had enough to get all stuff....I'd go on an Anime shopping spree...

I'd get both Kodocha Sets...

TRY to find the Uncut Sailor Moon DVD releases...(Those are nutso hard to find though)

Buy Zeta Gundam...even though I haven't seen it...

I agree...I'm leaning towards OOE and SF4....It is the most sensible option...Tomb Raider is apparently short...so as much as I want it...I think I'm gonna wait for a drop....

And for as much as I play a Street Fighter game...it seems to make sense. (Well..as many hours as that Alpha collection has seen...)

EDIT: I've also just seen the list of super budget PS2 games at Gamestop...

There are quite a few I never got but wanted...

Like Clock Tower 3....

So...about Persona 3....

What about it? It's in front of my TV...that's the highest in my queue that a game could be! That's the Pre-Play position. I'm just on an RPG fast for the time being...

Are you using a keyboard for your PS3? Good luck fixing your computer.

"In my experience...there is no such thing as luck"

To prove my point...I am coming at ya from my PC!

The culprit seems to be a busted stick of RAM...

(I only tested it as a formality...I didn't really expect anything to turn up...but the entire tester went red very quickly...)

So I'm down to 1GB....

Corsair may have a lifetime warranty though...So I may be able to get it replaced...(As it's only a year 1/2 old)

I'm still running tests however...I'm watching a ton of videos and running photoshop and Songbird in the BG...see if it shuts off again like it was doing....

Outta Nowhere!

Though I might post some random antics....

Some weeks ago we got another dog. A puppy...since then the little hellion has spent his time destroying shit and using the house as his personal bathroom...(luckily he hasn't figured out how to navigate stairs so he can't get into my room just yet) He has at least 4 names at this point...but I've taken to calling him "Agador Spartacus" (VERY obscure reference...if you get it +15 for you)

But he needs to learn to listen to people....so in that spirit...I am teaching him things.

If he wants to come inside...I will not let him in till he shuts his ass up and waits quietly. (He was at the door for almost 4 hours yesterday...before I let him in) And he is slowly figuring it out.

But also...I need to exert some kind of control over him...so he starts to listen to me in general. I have chosen a simple sit command for this. But rather then tell him "Sit". (That's boring...)

I am teaching him this...

"KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!" (Much easier then previous reference)

And...he's actually showing a few signs of learning to sit when I command him to kneel before Zod....

Now...just gotta work on the potty training....

guh, dogs, the other day my mom adopted a new one...only to find out that it did not want to be with us and it ran away.....sneaking under a wired metal fence that a medium sized dog would never think of going under, yet he did.

And boy...the birdcage, STRAIGHT HOMOS!!!

AlucardsFate

I never post in here...

mainly because I never really have anything to post. (And I'm sorta private) But...for the sake of posting...I shall recall today's events, no matter how minuscule they were...and they were.

After waking...and eating some eggs...I scurried off and played MGO with PSM for a little while. (I was actually having a good time before the game filled up. I dunno why he likes those crazily large games. Remember the 2 on 2 we had going for a short time early on? I was having a blast! Metal Gear should be about those steady paced tactical encounters...not super huge firefights. I want that? I'll play Unreal Tournament...)

Anyway...after that...I watched some Top Gear. A fine show that is...I don't even care about cars...You all should watch this show. Jeremy Clarkson is made of awesome and you will learn this fact if you watch it.

Ever had a specific game cinema you liked? I'm sure you have...I have my favorites too! (The opening to Chrono Cross, The parade sequence from FF8, The scene with Lisa the nurse in Silent Hill where she starts bleeding from her forehead, the Opening to Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver)

But were I to make a list...while those would all be near the top...so would the "1000 Words" concert sequence from Final Fantasy X-2. It's awesome all around.

So I had an urge to try something. Long ago I learned about and ripped some FMV's from a few PSX games. So I got an urge to try a PS2 game...which I figured would be more complicated. But everything I read...said it was surprisingly easy.

...Unfortunately for me...I picked THE WORST game I could have picked...which was as mentioned...Final Fantasy X-2. (Which after the fact...I learned is notoriously super hard to rip) Hand I known this beforehand...well it probably wouldn't have stopped me...but I would have at least been expecting it.

After an hour of research and trying...I finally was able to remove the FMV(s) I selected...only I had to split the video from the audio...And the program detailed on recombining them...didn't work. So I improvised and used Adobe Premiere. Long story short...I reinserted the audio and I actually got it all together! (I even ripped the opening! However you feel about the super Jpoppy concert...turn the audio off..it's a visual spectacle to behold...)

No compression...dare I say...these look almost better then they do on my TV. Of course...the sacrifice there...is file size. THEY ARE HUGE. Like...seriously huge. (Uncompressed AVI!) I would upload them to megaupload or something and post links...but I'm not sure anyone here would really want them. But if you do, just ask and I'll do it. (Bear in mind...they are near 800MB right now...I can convert them but you'll take a quality hit)

I also have on my computer...The previously mentioned opening to Soul Reaver and Chrono Cross. And I have FFVIII's opening...(I think)

But truth be told...I hate my random compulsions to do things like that...They eat time and require large space commitments...and cleanup is a bit of a hassle. (Cause I don't save anything in organized folders...unless I intend to keep it...)

NOW...what should I play...Baten Kaitos sounds good...Since I'm finally starting to understand it a bit....

P.S. A random little screencap from them...

Ahh...I've had the first really completely good day I've had in a long time.

Everything was going my way today, I went to work...and I finally feel like I have a handle on my new job...hitting my stride, I can see what should be where and how...and can do it myself...and be left to my own devices. (I'm a fan of the direct route, I don't like having to do things with others if I have to wait for them...I'd rather just go do it myself)

Then at lunch...I had a kickass Quizno's sandwich of some variety. But back at work...I had a crazily productive day...I even overhead several people mention the fact that I was outpacing all 4 of my co-workers...and at the same time...I was selling mounds and mounds of product....

I got home...and I didn't feel like falling down like the past few days...and my ebayed copy of Eternal Poison was here!

Then my brother came over and mentioned he had a show his band was putting on in some dive bar in the wrong kind of neighborhood. Nothing could touch me today...so I decided to tag along. I hung out with his band (who are also buddies of mine I haven't' seen in awhile...had a drink...heard some music...it was a good evening)

It's 2am...I just got home...I think it's time to listen to some old school No Doubt (which I've been doing a lot lately) and play some Punch-Out!!

Interesting day...

This has happened once before...(like 5 years ago)

I am deaf in my left ear. Temporarily.

It's some drainage issue...blockage...I dunno...I'm trying the store bought remedies but they didn't work last time. I had to go to a doctor to get it fixed. But I lived with it for a month before...

Right now it's going in and out...it's quite annoying.

Huh, well I hope some PERMANENT ear damage does not occur.

Cause I won't actually recover 100% of my hearing in my right ear.

And I still hear crackling in my right ear from time to time....I guess the internal healing makes funky noises?

Well...I'm done with GameStop. Over. Kaput. *That is unless they have some swanky preorder bonus for FFXIII or something I really want*

This is about the 10th straw...and the last one.

As you may or may not know. I preordered King of Fighters XII. I paid the full price as I always do. (I don't do that extra $5 deposit crap) And I went off today to collect my game after work.

Unusually...they couldn't find one in the drawer. So they went to their demo PS3 to find one. My first thought..."They'd better not be trying to give me a used game...." Which is what they were trying to do...BUT...they didn't have that one anymore either!

So let's back up here. I paid full price for the game...IN ADVANCE. And they sold my copy.

WHAT THE FUCK....

You cannot sell it after I pay in full...WHY? BECAUSE IT FUCKING BELONGS TO ME AT THAT POINT. It's transfer of ownership. RETAIL 101!

When it shows up...the very first batch...ONE OF THEM IS MINE....PERIOD.

So I got pretty sarcastic...and turned into something of an asshole. I did get a full refund. So I went off to Best Buy to see if they had it. They didn't. (So I spent the money on "Ah My Goddess Season 2: Flights of Fancy" instead. But I didn't reserve one there...so that's not their fault. But Gamestop? I paid them to hold it. That's bullshit.

Granted...from what I'm hearing...it's not worth full price...so I may wait now. But either way this will be the 4th time I've emailed Gamestop corporate about that specific store. But unless they have some silly artbook I want...they can go fuck themselves for the moment...

RedWizard
07-27-2009, 02:35 AM
You must have the worst Gamestop store in the country. I've never had such problems at my EB. In fact, their only real problem is their poor selection of used games. You should write corporate and tell them you want Tim Matter to take over as district manager.

WanderingMind
07-27-2009, 03:44 AM
Holy shit, that really sucks for you, Alucards. I've never had any serious problems with Gamestop, but I don't like going in there. There's an FYE right next door to the Gamestop I go to at my mall and they often have used games I can't find at Gamestop. Examples include Lost Planet (PS3), Stretch Panic (PS2), and Battlefield: Bad Company (PS3). At least with FYE, their stickers are much easier to remove.

Well as you may or may not have known...I was a longtime subscriber. Upon the closure...I still had a good deal of issues left before I had to renew again. Well today I went and bought a bunch of stuff.

My mum required a flashlight...so I bought her one...only she was thinking cheap plastic flashlight. I bought one of those long burly Maglites...the kind police bludgeon people with. Awesome.

I also bought a 4GB flash drive...figured I may need one.

Also, Medieval 2 Total War Gold. it was cheap.

And I bought a 250GB 2.5 inch HDD for my PS3. After extensive testing and coming THIS CLOSE to bricking my PS3...I've determined that the HDD is FUBAR. (It does make that clicking sound after all) Fan-f***ing-tastic. I get to go to my work on my day off and replace it. That's smashing.

UPDATE:

My new HDD appears to be working...but by default the PS3 does a full format. Which is taking forever. It is 4:49 AM here...I started at 8:30PM maybe. It's still going. I read up on forums...and apparently this isn't unusual. Judging by forum posts where this occurs with varying HDD sizes...I'd say mine will be around 15 hrs. It will be done when I go to work tomorrow. Though I read now...that if one accesses the PS3 diagnostic menu (Hold down the power button until you hear several beeps when you turn it on) you can access a "Quick Format". But I'm too far in now...can't stop it. That sucks.

Nothing quite like that...I think...(As I generally do frown upon work relationships)

But one other thing she said caught my attention.

Her: "Your here all day every day aren't you?"

Me: "What do you mean?"

Her: "Every day I'm here...I see you here. It's like you never leave..."

This says to me that this is either:

A.) Coincidence...nothing more. Our shift's line up.

B.) She notices me coming and going...

...She's also short...I'm about 6'2 or so...she gotta be around 5'3 or 5'4...not that it matters. It was funny when I was walking next to her during our conversation though...I'm a giant to her...

But I will say think twice THEN think again before going into any work relationship.

It was a bad break and the amount of drama between them two (both very nice people) was just....ugh.

Seems I have a knack for hurting myself this past week or two! Rather odd...usually I'm clumsy as far as my giant feet hitting things...but in the past 14 days I've:

-Cut my hand open with my own knife. On my left had right were my thumb and hand meet. That was fun..

-Slammed same hand into a shelf hard enough to cut open a finger

-Dropped a computer on my face. This one is hilarious. I've had an officejet printer (A larger one) dropped on my face before because somebody dropped it....it hit me square...but left no mark. But because it's a small laptop...but it rolled in such a way as to cause the box corner to hit me right in the nose. And as such...I now have a nice cut on my nose. The worst part? I can see it....just normally. It's in my field of vision and as such my eye keeps getting drawn to it. It's driving me crazy!

"I got into a fight. With a box. I lost."

That about describes the shape of my hands when I got done ripping up ceramic tile last week. Though in my case, it would be more accurate to say that my hands looked like I got into a fight with a roll of barbed wire and lost. Apparently flying shards of ceramic tile are hazardous for your health (and hands/arms).

To any and all who have been wondering where the devil I've been at...or to those who are just enjoying the vacation:

After shutting my computer down Saturday night and waking up the following day, it refused to start. I can't even get a POST message from the motherboard. (Basically...all the stuff you see on the VERY FIRST screen where it checks for HDD's and the like...not happening) After trying some things...exhausting options, and conferring with geniuses....The inevitable truth is becoming, my motherboard is fucked. I do have one more test I'd like to run to rule that out...but someone at work is going to bring me the proper item required to run this test. If that doesn't work, (And it's my belief that it won't) then I gotta replace my motherboard.

The problem there...is most of the new AMD boards are of the AM3 socket variety, and I have AM2 hardware. Which means...replacing the board will require replacing the RAM and the CPU (The CPU being really expesnive) Basically, this means I won't be around for the forseeable future.

The timing could not be worse, as tournament season is upon us! So unless someone else wants to make some vs screens...we are gonna go without some for the first time in awhile...unless of course I can pull a miracle out of my ass....

If your wondering how I'm online now...well it's either on my PS3 or my Wii. I vastly prefer the Wii Browser...much faster. (Go Opera!) And it doesn't have that painfully annoying Shift+Backspace DELETES EVERYTHING command like the PS3....

Oh....no...it has nothing to do with the internet. It's a hardware failure. I just need to figure out exactly WHAT has failed so I can replace it. But I got a PSU tester from someone...I don't think that the PSU is the issue...but we shall see.

What will probably suck is I may end up needing to reinstall Windows 7. And since my "free for doing all that retail training" version of 7 is techincally an OEM....I may have to run through some hoops with Microsoft to get them to let me activate it again...maybe.

UPDATE: After testing the power supply...it's reading green on all voltages. FUCK.
