One of my sister's friends stayed over with her last night. That was interesting. I was up 'til 3 because of their hijinks and whatnot.

This morning Ringo woke me up a 10, actin' silly. He's got his sleep schedule backwards to ours now so he doesn't get a lot of play time 'cause he's already winding down when we wake up. That, or he's terribly bored with all of his toys.

I played Street Fighter Alpha 2 for a while today, and recorded a video of my suckage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFAwhB7kEzE

Around 4 I went up to my grandmother's and helped her take down Christmas decorations for the second day in a row. When I got home, I ate dinner, played Prince of Persia, uploaded that Alpha 2 video and am now sitting here.

Now, to try and get Ringo hyped enough to play.

Tomorrow, I'll try and get to a Books-A-Million to see if they have any volumes of the awesome Scott Pilgrim (http://www.scottpilgrim.com/).

Seven hours of sleep is average for me....but still, staying up until 3 is something. Did last night feel like forever for you?

Heiae
12-31-2008, 03:20 AM
Not really. When I don't have school, I usually go to bed around 3 or 4. But for most of Christmas break, I've been going to bed usually around 12:30 or 1, because Ringo wakes me up.

Time actually went by pretty fast last night - I didn't realize it was 3 until I heard the girls getting ready for bed.

They actually stayed up later than me.

WanderingMind

That's when I usually go to sleep around vacation, if not later.

The second time he decided to BITE ME.

Ringo mood swings, man. He's lovey-dovey right before he goes to sleep, right when he wakes up and usually is when we first wake up.

All the other time, he's certifiably batshit. And I love him so much. Hahaha!

EDIT: As I left the house to go to my grandma's, I noticed Edicus is, indeed, pregnant again. I honestly can not deal with this - the last litter drove me insane with worry and all of them eventually died. Including Rock-You, whom we took inside.

I don't know what to do. They won't survive being born in the winter. I'm actually considering calling the pound - Edicus is a beautiful cat, I'm sure she could get a home.

Oh man..

On a completely different note, I was going to check my local Wal-Mart to see if they had any PSN cards so I could bypass the whole closed banks deal but, heh, then I remembered I hate Wal-Mart and I hate our local one even MORE!

Why do you keep letting the cat out into the world...where it can get pregnant...my cats never leave the house...

Heiae

Well, I don't have any income, so I can't get it done. My mom has thought about it, but when it comes to the outside cats, it's wait and wait and wait and see with her - well, actually, it's like that with a lot of things.

There is a place near here that will do it for really cheap, but still, It's hard to get my mom to listen to anything about it because she always get extremely annoyed when I talk about the cats for some reason.

It's a complicated situation centered around my mother's unwillingness to act. But we aren't exactly brimming with cash right now due to her going to college and she's literally ALWAYS stressed, so.. I guess I can sort of understand it.

Edicus is not an inside cat. She never was and never will be. She will not come in the house, and if you take her inside she just slumps to the ground and tries to go back out.

It's just the way it is. Those cats just decided our house was their home - they just showed up and we fed them and we were stuck with 'em.

Which wouldn't be so bad if they weren't female.

Never say never man.

One of my cats, Boots, was really sick. She had ulcers on both her eyes [yes, that's right. Ulcers. Her eyes starting eating themselves] and a lump on her thyroid.

With medication, her one eye is better, and the other is getting slightly better as well. Should be good by next week.

The thyroid can't be explained yet, turns it was a liquid, so it was sent in for test. She doesn't have cancer or lymphoma, as all the tests were negative.

Anyways, back to the point, Boots seemed like she would never be inside cat. However, over the past 3 weeks, she hasn't been outside (but mostly because we haven't let her), but she hasn't wanted to leave the house that bad either. Maybe once or twice a day, max.

Cats can be trained, and can change.

Heiae
01-01-2009, 11:36 PM
Edicus isn't coming inside due to one simple fact - we're only allowed to have one cat inside and that's Ringo.

And even if I did bring her in, Ringo's a dude. And seeing hows that fixin' ain't gonna happen any time soon, that'd be disaster.

It's a different situation.

But, ignoring all that, I hope your cat gets better. I can't stand to see a sick kitty.

And I just thought.. What's going to happen to our outside cats when we move next year? I don't think my mother is too keen on bringing them with us..

The series premiere of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight happens today. This is the first American adaptation of the Kamen Rider series since the absolutely terrible butchering of Kamen Rider Black RX back in the 90's with Masked Rider.

Dragon Knight will be an adaptation of Ryuki, which I've only seen a few episodes of. The suit designs are great.

Well, it's on now! I'm hoping for the best!

EDIT: And it was pretty darn good. I actually already saw the first episode - they aired it a couple weeks ago for a "Sneak Peek," but I have to say it was still decent the second time around. I couldn't find much to hate about it - it's better than Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive combined when it comes to American Toku adaptations already.

Here's hoping that it keeps being good.

Heiae
01-03-2009, 07:21 PM
You have to gauge the "badness" on the level of quality of other American adaptations. You see, on the grand scale of things, the show is terrible, but compared to the American Masked Rider and half the Power Ranger shows, It's great.

It's like a handicap. When you watch stuff like this, you have to think like a kid again.

KomodoAce
01-03-2009, 07:24 PM

That whole "Yu-Gi-Oh" style card using, was that in the original Kamen Rider too?

Yeah. It was called a "Visor" in the original Ryuki. They use them to summon their powers.

Cards didn't come into play until the Heisei era riders. Classic Rider shows didn't use such gimmicks. After Kuuga and Agito, Ryuki came and brought in cards. It's basically just a ploy to sell toys and junk to kids in Japan, you know?

The next series, Kamen Rider 555, ditched the cards, but the one after that, BLADE, brought them back. They were used in Blade to seal killed monsters and junk. Blade's theme is based on a deck of cards, with some of the Riders having Jack and King forms and stuff.

There hasn't been a series with cards since then.. Until the new series starts airing at the end of January. It'll be called DECADE, and it'll be like a mash-up of all the Heisei era Riders, with the main character using cards based on other Heisei riders for attacks and stuff.

I KNOW TOO MUCH AAAGH.

The Kamen Rider Decade teaser arrived on the internet a few days ago, and I just watched it. I'm excited as hell.

A mash-up of all the Hiesei-era Riders is beyond awesome. But they all exist in different universes, so I wonder how they'll combine 'em.. Knowing the Kamen Rider writers, though, it isn't going to make a lick of sense. But who cares!? This is fanservice to the MAX.

The new actor looks okay, but the Decade suit looks very odd. Check the attachments - it's the pinkish one you see all over the thumbnails.

Oh man, fanboys are going to be freaking out like CRAZY over this show. I'm sure Decade is going to be fighting a lot of the old Riders (all of whom are heroes - lolwut?) and he's going to defeat some of the most popular. I saw Kuuga on his knees behind Decade in the teaser - I'm surprised I haven't heard outcry already.

I hope all they're able to get the actors to reprise their roles. Of course, if they aren't the same, they'll try to explain it with some crazy UNIVERSE MASHING nonsense that will leave everyone angry and confused.

I already see what Decade is.. A fanservice show filled with card merchandise to sell to kids. But.. I can't help but get excited! Kamen Rider has been on a roll for the past few years!

Hahaha.. Really?

I've been watching Kamen Rider religiously since.. I think it was fall 2007. Den-O was the first series I got into, as it was airing at the time, and I watched Kabuto while waiting for the rest of Den-O to get Subbed.

So far, I've seen:

Kamen Rider Ryuki (some)
Kamen Rider Blade
Kamen Rider Hibiki
Kamen Rider Kabuto
Kamen Rider Den-O
Kamen Rider Kiva (Airing now.. almost over)

Each series is about 49 episodes long, and each has at least one movie. (Den-O has THREE so far, because it's INSANELY popular.) Which is why I have no hard drive space anywhere.

Kamen Rider is just a lot of fun to watch for me. It's made for kids, so none of the series are particularly mentally stimulating, but it's good fun if you like the whole campy dude-in-suit-fights-dudes-in-suits stuff.

Too bad I'll never be able to see the original series..

I need to watch the Japanese ones. Those are bound to be better than the American one that I just saw last week.

Hahaha.. By a mile.

If you want to watch a Kamen Rider show, one of the best entry points is Kamen Rider Kabuto. It has good action, music, and production values. It also has some degree of seriousness, but the plot stops making any sense towards the end.

If you can handle silly and fun, try Den-O. It's goofy, but it rocks!

If you liked the suit designs and stuff of the Riders you saw in the American adaptation of Ryuki, Dragon Knight, TV-Nihon has just recently started putting out subbed Ryuki episodes. It's okay, but many of the other series surpass it.

People used to have Kamen Rider all over Veoh, but I dunno about now.

EDIT: Well, seeing as I couldn't get out of AP Stats, I'm now trying to get out of AP English. AP English, like all the other AP classes, needs 10 people to get funding, and there's 12.

So me and another guy who both have absolutely no business being in there are trying to get out.

We tried to go talk to the principal together so we'd have a really good chance of convincing him that we're the only people that are even thinking of dropping it (which is really true - everyone else in there wouldn't even consider it), but he couldn't talk to us as he was on hall duty or something. He said he'd get back to us so we're assuming we'll get to talk to him tomorrow..

Though there's complications! I had told my mother that morning to go change my second and third blocks to study halls and sign me out so I can just go home for those two periods between two AP classes, but after sitting in AP English for that one period, I realized that that class is absolutely ridiculous and I must get out. So I sent her a text message telling her NOT to change it.. but she never got the message and did so anyway.

So.. I hope he catches me first period tomorrow. In the class I want to get out of!

If all goes as planned, I'll just come to school at 11:07 every day.

There was a RIDER WAR, Decade transformed into two of my favorite Riders ever, the action was awesome and the effects were great. This show has a serious budget compared to the last season. And the whole premise? AWESOME.

Here's the OP if anyone's interested. It's pretty epic. I'm surprised someone so big as Gackt got billed to sing the theme song. I don't particularly like him, but I know he's popular over in Japan, and this song is pretty good.

Today, I was driving back to school and it was raining a bit. I pull into my parking spot at the High School (which is amazingly far away from the school) and get out of my car.

Suddenly, it starts pouring and raining SIDEWAYS. So I run for about 120 yards to the school with sideways rain blasting in my face and getting my Stats book soaked only to get to the front door and have one of the assistant principles motion their hands, pointing out I don't have my ID.

So, of course, if you go to class without it you're magically one of the worst beings present in the school and are sent to ISS, so I ran BACK TO MY CAR, now with the super-duper sideways rain slamming me in the back of my head, to get my ID.

Not wanting to venture back into the torrent I sat in my lovely Le Sabre, soaked, watched a couple strikes of lightning and heard a few rumbles of thunder and thought about going home. I sat in there for about 10 minutes, long after the late bell rang, just waiting for it to let up.

I've missed a few classes of Stats and want to have my last few legal absences ready for days I feel like not going so I decided to go ahead and go to class late. In the sideways rain. Once again.

I run back to the school, now looking like I jumped in a lake fully clothed, and walked to my AP Stats class.

The rain completely lets up when I walk in the door.

At least the reactions my class had were hilarious.

Fun day!

At least my dentist visit was rad. And I'm going to see Star Trek tomorrow.

Sounds like you had a fun day.

At my high school, you could be written up for a 7:30 am detention if you didn't have your school ID. I never got soaked because I forgot mine, though.

Maybe it's to keep track of people. Now, the only time I have to show my college ID is when I want to go to the school library during final exam study hours, which is 24/7 starting tomorrow.

I had to wear my lanyard around my neck or I would get in trouble. Some of my teachers made everyone in class stand up to see if we were wearing them.

I'll take IDs over the dumbass tuck-in-shirt rule any damn day. I can't believe how ridiculous that crap is. You get SUSPENDED for having your SHIRT UNTUCKED.

SUSPENDED.

Even though the rule states everyone has to tuck in their shirts and a girl can wear a shirt that comes down just as far as mine does but they don't have to. BECAUSE THE GUYS ARE DANGEROUS. WE HIDE WEAPONS IN OUR POCKETS.

Not that I want ANYONE else to have to deal with the stupid rule. Heck, I don't ever follow it anyway.

I think they require the students to carry IDs so unauthorized guests don't wander through the hallways uninvited. Wouldn't want to let 40-year-old child molesters blend in among all those teenagers.

Also, the inside of your car is going to smell great tomorrow.

Okay, so we've got a choice of projects to do for our final grade in AP Stats and I chose one where you have to make a 4 inch by 4 inch box, put an egg inside and make sure the egg doesn't break when we drop it from like 20ft or so. You can put anything inside of it to prevent the egg from cracking or breaking.

It sounds kinda hard, but it really isn't. Last year's class did it easy. It's just for us we have to make sure the box can support weight because he doesn't want any made out of Styrofoam and stuff.

I was thinking of making a small wooden box, lining the inside with a bit of bubble wrap and filling the rest of the area with peanut butter and marshmallows around the egg - as much as I can fit.

I don't know if it'll work well or not. Not until I test it. My partner (we have partners) is doing one out of metal (he's gonna weld it). We're going to see which one works better in the end. He's using lightweight stuff like a tin can so it might work. Who knows?

Anyway, to get to the point..

Do you guys have any ideas as to what I can put in it so the egg won't break? Anything at all. I'm just trying to get as many ideas as possible. This is an easy grade, after all!

The stuff has to fit in my 4 inch by 4 inch wooden box, protecting the egg from being damaged. There's only so much room!

SnakeEyez
05-20-2009, 01:05 AM
What about Jell-O? If you encase the egg in a big block of Jell-O, it won't move around and bang into the sides of the box when it hits the ground. And if it doesn't move, then it can't break, right?

Umbrae

Pulverize them into powder.

Peanut butter has to be the best idea. Cram it in!

don't go there

Have you ever submerged an egg in vinegar for a few days? It does something to the shell and makes it all rubbery and bouncy. The inside is still raw, though, so don't play with it indoors.

I did that, let the egg rot, and then blindfolded someone and gave it to them, saying it was a small waterballoon.

...seriously. Man, that was a mess.

My sister was playing Majora's Mask earlier. She was in the Mountain Pass or whatever, fighting a Dondongo. She was getting slaughtered by its tail-spin attack, getting hit every time.

"What are you doing? You have a shield for a reason."

"He's not blocking!"

"Press the shield button."

"Huh?"

And thus, I saved Link from my sister.

I like Twilight Princess' art direction, story and characters (and by characters, I mean Midna).. but it's way too easy. WAY too easy. And I can't stand playing it on the Wii.

I need a Gamecube copy, STAT. No waggle-attacking for me, thank you very much.

But yeah, you're right. I probably raged because of Twilight Princess.

What!? The Waggle was functional! It works! The games lack of difficulty was a result of other factors. Like hits not taking off enough...

That game was way to easy...

The waggle attacking was straight stupid. It was functional, yeah, but that doesn't mean it felt right at all. Sorry, but I like attacking immediately with the press of a button, not having to wait for an awkward waggle combo to initiate. You may not agree with me, but this is how I feel.

The thing it did get right, though, was the instant spin attack. That was nice.

PS: I never said the waggle attacking was a contributing factor to the overall meager difficulty of the title.

Oh man. My first day of college is going to suck. It starts on a Tuesday and Tuesday is my most retardedly jam-packed day.

I really wish I would have gone to an earlier orientation because I couldn't get my schedule right at all. See, if I lived on campus I wouldn't give a crap about how weird it is, but I have to commute, and I have such funky class times I don't know what I'll do. For almost every day I have an early afternoon class then a marathon of classes later in the day and the margin of time between the early and the late doesn't give me enough time to go home and eat or anything and make it back in time.

I probably should have gotten a meal plan or something..

I'll figure it out and deal with it. I just know I'm not going to be happy during the week.

I wish I could have spread it out more over the days but all the classes I needed that still had open seats had to be on Monday-Thursday. So I have a cramped Monday-Thursday but ONE 50 minute morning class on Friday. It's retarded. Hahaha!

It's those three-hour art classes that really messed me up, I think..

So what classes are you taking?

Design Drawing, Design Fundamentals, Design Studio Skills, Composition, Visual Communications, Principles of Learning, and three required computer classes.

Those three hour art classes.. I bet I'm going to be bored.

I keep regretting that I picked Illustration for my major because I'm honestly not a good artist and am much better at writing.. but we'll see how it goes, I guess. I have always wanted to be either a comics penciller or a novelist.

Man, Heiae, that's a lot of classes. Is that for just one semester or the entire year? My college would only let you take a maximum of six classes per semester as an undergrad. Maybe our schools just follow different sets of criteria or something.

Anyway, bet of luck to you. College is going to be a lot of work, but it will all be worth it in the end. Don't believe in yourself; believe in me, who believes in you! *lens flare*

I keep hearing people say that's a lot of classes and it's FREAKING ME OUT. Hahaha..

Thing is, outside of the three art classes, every other class I have is an hour or less long. I had to have 16 credit hours to get my scholarships.. so I guess that's why I'm so stacked.

It's also why my schedule is so retarded - it could have been a little more manageable for a commuter if I could have just gotten into some of the times I wanted to. But with so many little classes I had to get.. I couldn't manage it.

Also, I'll be taking 8 classes at once - not 9. One of the computer classes switches over to another one half-way through or something. Also, those classes don't start until late September so it's only 7 classes 'til then.
