View Full Version : Have You Ever Gotten Physically Sick/Injured....

...from playing a game?

It's happened to me twice.

Once, I was playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 in an arcade, trying to beat it. Since I didn't know what I was doing (except for the SF characters), I button mashed.

Big mistake.

I played for about 20 minutes and when I finally ran out of quarters, I gave up. My hands/wrists were cramped really bad.

I couldn't move it for about 30 minutes.

The second time involved playing the survival/horror game Martian Gothic on the PS1.

We were stuck and since this was before we had internet, we had to figure out what to do the hard way: explore.

It doesn't help that the game looked like ass or that the game sucked.

It gave all three of us who played it (Amuro, my Dad and I) a fever and headache for a few days.

We never bothered with the game again.

How has a game made you sick or injured you?

hmmm...I'm gonna have to think about that...I guess I could say yes!!

For when I first obtained MGS3 subsistence, I played MGO literally for an entire day straight....bad decision, for the next day I felt so bad with headaches and all....that I even dreamed I was still playing it...so my sleep was very shitty.

Something is very wrong if you play games in your dreams and lose. lol, I know you didn't say that you did, just making a statement.

For me? No, can't recall it ever happening.

One summer when I was veeeeery young I played Runescape for the whole two months with a friend. I was sick pretty frequently. Played FFXI all 4 years of high school and got VERY out of shape, does that count? Bahaha.

Yeah...I can't really remember hurting myself while playing a game...

I've like...stubbed a toe on my entertainment center putting a disc in..does that count?

Well when I played KotOR 2 I stayed up three nights in a row till 4-5 am. Like 20+ hurs worth of gaming. My eyes where really watery and red afterwards for like a week.

Oh and one time in Orlando there was a Ms. Pacman machine at the small arcade in the Hotel. I fucking love that machine. So I played it every night trying to beat the High score on it. I did after 4 days. But I could barely stretch the fingers of my right hand for the rest of the night.

I think I spent 16 hours straight on FFX over a spring break like five years ago because I was bored out of my mind.

I get lots of headaches from gaming. Mostly because I either don't have enough light, or too much light....or not wearing my glasses.

I've never really gotten hurt, although me and 2 friends all just about puked while playing Max Payne during the nightmare sequence, after 6 of us had drank a Texas Mickey [3 already had went to bed]

Headache, neckache, eyes strained, and sore hands?

All symptoms of chronic masturbation hardcore gaming.

Rogue stormtrooper, if you know what I mean. lol no I think it has to do with focusing intently on a magazine, television or computer screen while spanking it.

seems like we talk about dirty things... lol

masturbation is good for stress relief. for example, if you are getting your ass whooped in a game, you should masturbate, and then play the game. you will do much better. trust me i know.

It happens to me because I sit on a crappy chair while playing something like Persona 4 for a couple hours in a row.

I remember when I first got my Gamecube I got sick that day.

But I tried to play the game I had rented for it...

Sonic adventure Battle 2... I remember playing it for a little while and feeling ill. Now, I'm not sure if it was the fast motion that was sickening me, or the game itself, but I don't have motion sickness.

Other than the usual blisters from the PS2 pad (I have this habit of using the middle of my thumb and not the tip, which sadly makes me unable to do four hour GGAC marathon plays like I wish I could) and the Mario Party palm...

I busted my ankle playing DDR. No joke. It was back in Alaska. I was 13. I used to be decent at it...

Then this hottie got up on the pad next to me. Looked to be about 18...and go figure, she was stacked.

Now, being a 13-year-old kid who had barely learned of the wonders of the interwebs just a year prior, needless to say, I got distracted by magical (and probably fake) jubblies. Fell off the pad, snapped my ankle. To this day, I can't get my DDR groove back...and I have ankle problems periodically.

I recently hurt my thumb playing God Hand....on Easy. It's a tough game, even on the lowest difficulty. I spent a lot of time dodging and pressing the Round and Square buttons. It didn't help that I played Arcana Heart an hour after I beat God Hand. My thumb has since gone back to normal.

I don't know if it was "for real", or something in my head, but I remember playing some Dynasty Warriors in a marathon with a buddy of mine, eating way too many sour gummy neon worms, and throwing up the next morning.

Probably wasn't the game's fault, but I haven't been able to touch a DW title since...

Playing fighting games with a D-pad hurts left my thumb. Fortunately, I've got an arcade stick now. Oh, and just using a Dreamcast controller is excruciating.

Yeah...they can get unresponsive after years of use. Ever tried doing the Wampa-Stompa code in Shadows of the Empire. Now that's annoying.

The worst is when your little brother or cousin or some crazy kid comes along and sits on the thing, or bashes the hell outta it so it's all loose and doesn't sit centered, and means you constantly have to compensate in Mario Kart 64 just to go straight.

I fondly recall my first blister from Street Fighter 2 Championship edition. I just figured out how to pull off the hadoken and dragon punch and I was trying to work out how to do those damn charge moves (curse you Guile!!! and yo damn flash kick!). When it was over I had a big 'ol blister on both thumbs...geez those smart.

And recently, I was playing Persona 4 at about 12:30 am, when I finished it was 5 am and I was all dizzy. I still don't know how I made it to the bed without passing out on the couch.

*sigh* memories
