Use this thread to post all the video games you recently bought for yourself or for others.

The last games I bought were Valkyrie Profile 2 and Shadow of the Colossus. They were Christmas presents to me from me. I haven't played either of them yet, but I'll get to them eventually.

I had a bunch of EB gift cards lying around, so I decided to pick up some stuff for my new laptop.

Worst mistake I've ever made.

Buying PC games at EB felt like shopping at a discount video store. One crappy little floor display with games shoved in it in vaguely alphabetical order. I had to call four locations in my area before I could find a copy of Company of Heroes, and the clerk thought I was nuts when I asked if they had Crysis ("...huh...are you sure that's out yet?"). Anyways, I managed to pick up CoH, Orange Box, and Crysis at no cost to myself, so I suppose the aggravation was worth it...I'm just never doing that again.

I don't mind EB Games, at least here.

The better news is my local game store is back open, so I'm going to support it as much as I can.

It's a plodding, mediocre RPG with boring characters outside of Chopin himself, with a unique but ultimately repetitive battle system and a crappy plot.

The music and visuals are great, though.

You can probably find SotC for $15-20, and at that price it's absolutely worth it. Amazing game. Bioshock is pretty interesting too so far, but I'm only 30 or so minutes in, so it remains to be seen. It's creepy as hell, though, so I can't play it for long stretches.

I have KOTOR2.

The First PC games bugs are nothing compared to the second. There are lots of graphical issues, clipping, etc.

Nothing deletes your game though.

However, just keep this in mind at all times when you play KOTOR2: IT WAS NOT OBSIDIANS FAULT.

A lot of people think that, but they are wrong. Obsidian had plans and was developing a massive game, including more worlds, more characters devleopments, and a much better ending, but in the end were forced to cut them out because Lucasarts refused to delay the game so they could finish.

However, if you check out the Net, you'd be happy to know that a bunch of people got together to finish what Obsidian was not allowed to do: Finish the game.

It's been in development for almost 4 years, and it's nearly complete. Personally, I cannot wait.

I never really purchased these games, I got them for free. I got GTA Liberty City Stories, and Beyond Good and Evil for the PS2 free. Last Wednesday I had to help unload a truck where I work, and the truck driver was playing FFXII in his cab. I ask what else does he have, and he show me a box of PS2 games he had already beaten and told me I can have some. I wasn't going to turn down a free game.

The next one was Sonic Adventure for free. I got it at the Goo Will. There was a Dreamcast for 100.00 bucks there with two controllers, and couple of games. I just ask for Sonic Adventure, and they said I could have for free. Just like that.:D

Well...I can't speak for ALL the DS games you've played, and I certainly can't speak for Hotel Dusk (looked cool enough...but it also looked...kinda slooooooow)...but Hatsworth is a pretty awesome platformer. Very much in the same family as Megaman and the like. The puzzle element is there too obviously, but I think the way its encorporated and how the two meld is very well done.

Ahhhh okay, so what this boils down to is I need to research some of these games more. I had this feeling that Hatsworth was more of an adventure-type game, possibly something like Prof Layton. But if it's a platformer, then comparisons to Hotel Dusk are unfair and pretty pointless of me to bring up, since I would never play it anyway! :D

Hotel Dusk was, by the way, sort of slow I guess you could say. I mean, it moved along at a good pace, but since it wasn't an action game at all it's definitely a different sort of tempo than a typical game. I would definitely recommend it, though, as it was totally different than anything else I'd ever played.

Ah! Well, if you change your mind, I'd recommend it. Hatsworth is good.

I definetly want to look into Hotel Dusk. I mean, it DOES look slow, but often point and clicks are to an extent...but they often have great stories and moments that just *snaps* come out of nowhere. The sad thing is I never really heard that much about Hotel Dusk, honestly. Whereas games like Phoenix Wright you hear about all the time (I like Phoenix too, but, even so).

Yeah man, it was a bit under the radar. I heard about it a good deal on 1UP, I think they tried to pimp it to a certain extent, but they can only do so much pimping on behalf of a small DS adventure game, heheh. I played the first Phoenix but didn't finish it all the way. It was good but the formula got a bit repetitive for me. I should really finish it one of these days...

Anyway, I bought a PS2 slim since I left my PS2 at school and didn't send it home. I'm amazed at how small this thing is. Had I known, I would have bought it two years ago and brought it to college with me instead of the older and bigger model.

I can't seem to find Lost Planet anywhere

Really?

Check your bargain bins in store, as it can be found in there now, with other titles like Kane & Lynch, Project 8, Dark Sector, etc, etc.

I found my copy at Superstore [which is kinda like Target in Canada.....except no where near as good], but also saw a few copies in Staples up here as well.

Edit: It's just kinda weird though. The controller options suck balls. I mean, you're forced to use R2 to shoot.....which just feels really unnatural with a PS controller.

Also another downer: You can't go to your XMB...

I wonder why they released a "better" version of Lost Planet for the PS3, then released that version PLUS new stuff for the 360?

Doesn't that discourage buying the PS3 version?

Well, I can't remember how long it was between the PS3 version and the 360's Colonies Edition.. Which I still need to get due to the added stuff in multiplayer. I loved Lost Planet's multiplayer. And no one plays the original's multiplayer anymore.

A good bit of it was. But Colonies also added new multiplayer modes and models (what I'm most interested in), a score-attack mode, a time-trial mode and a few other things on top of that, which is a really good deal at 30$.

I wish I had some stray cash but this is FIGHTING GAME SUMMER! and I need everything for KOFXII and BlazBlue. Hahaha..

I preordered King of Fighters XII...for PS3....which I have to pick up. Cause I've been at work all day every day! (But they can't take my preorder away...I don't do that deposit crap I paid in full!)

I also bought Soul Calibur 4 for PS3...for $15! This is already way better then the mess that was Soul Calibur 3. Though I still don't agree with the Star Wars characters being here. (And "The Apprentice" from the throughly mediocre "Force Unleashed" is a cheap assclown)

But they haven't destroyed my favorite characters. They are slightly changed...but mostly for the better....

Xianghua's array of cancels and feints are VASTLY expanded...making her an absolute terror to fight when I get these down. Even when you think you've seen her do that combo before...NOPE...she can stop it and turn it into something else!

Setsuka, has some lame outfits...so I made her a good one. But she's one of SC3's ONLY good traits. Glad she's back. She is hard to learn though...but has lotsa really quick pokes and interupts. Making fighting her...frustrating.

Sueng Mina...is spelled some new way...but she's mostly the same. A couple of move changes...a useful new kick...

I really like Hilde's desgin...but she doesn't have a terribly wide attack variety. That could be an issue.

I used to play as Sigfried...but I learned...THAT EVERYONE PLAYS AS SIGFRIED....so I've stopped being him...in favor of focusing all my energy on Xianghua and Setsuka...

Did I hear Kingdom Hearts? I like that game...

Kingdom Hearts 2...not so much...

Arent a half a thousand KH games on the way?

Can't do much with the...err...ROTUND lady. Castlevania is pretty cool, though my eagerness to gain levels and explore may have possibly elad me in the wrong direction.

Although not PURCHASED per say, I also acquired via trade Mario vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, Maximo and Twisted Metal Black. March of the Minis is cool...it's like Lemmings but with Mario power ups and Donkey Kong references. Maximo is f**king AMAZING. Of course, it helps that I'm a huge Ghosts N' Goblins fan. Twisted Metal is cool...but it took me a bit to adjust to the controls and I'm still getting my ass kicked.

I've always wanted Drill Dozer. I should look for it.

You totally should. Drill Dozer is an amazing little piece of platforming...provided you ignore the few levels where they make you fly/steer a sub in the most irritating control scheme possible.

The game is actually pretty easy to find still. I know almost every Wal-Mart I've walked in still has the games NEW. Grant you, they're like $30, but you get the manual/comic and the box. So...I think I'll do that next.

Of course, you can also probably find the game used (though that's a little harder) for a much more reasonable price. I initally picked up the game for about...$10.

It's alright, much better than 3 certainly. I enjoy it, but then again I'm pretty easy to please.

Damn...ah well. Maybe next time I'm out and about I'll pick it up, since it was cheap. There's quite a few games I want to go out and try now that many of them are much, much cheaper. Or in some cases...re-buy. (Now that I have Twisted Metal Black, I need to go out and pick up War of the Monsters (never should have sold that game in the first place) and I can finally unlock the Sweet Tooth Costume. Sure...it only took me...six years...Shut up.)

I got Drill Dozer and Sly Cooper 1 from Alex today. Thank you for trading with me. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Maximo and good luck if you try to go for 100% completion. You'll be the man if you can do it.

Thank you sir! I hope you enjoy Drill Dozer and Sly Cooper! Sly Cooper is tragically short but it's good while it lasts and there's a bit of unlockables to work with. Drill Dozer is just fantastic.

And yes, I am loving the crap outta Maximo. Much like it's ancestor Super Ghouls N Ghosts, it's damn hard but for some reason I'm totally okay with that. I don't suspect I'll get 100% completion though. The best I've done for level completion thus far is 81%. That's not too promising. (Though the lowest I've done is 76%).

I AM gonna make sure to score all of 'em kisses.

Bought a Nyko Intercooler TS (http://www.nyko.com/products/product-detail/?name=Intercooler+TS+360) today. NOT the previous version which melted to consoles and used it's power thus sometimes even hindering performance and actually heating up the console.

This is a completely redesigned version that actually works. It uses it's own AC adapter and has a temperature sensor so it automatically adjusts the fans. Plus when you turn off the console it keeps on going till it cools down properly, sweet. It cost me $25, but I already had 18 in credit so it cost me $8(tax). Funnily enough the previous version(read: shitty/useless/hazardous) costs $20. The extra five bucks are definitely worth it.. Plus it looks nice.

Even though I have one of the newer consoles sporting a Falcon chip which runs cooler and uses less power(thus the smaller, lighter AC adapter), and is thus less likely to RROD and runs cooler then previous versions; I still like some extra protection. Plus me and my bro have been playing from 3 to 6 hours most days(that's combined btw, I usually play 2-3 hours. He usually plays 3 if he can get away with it, aka I'm not there to tell him to give the console a break. So the console is getting a beating, and it's on the horizontal position(I have two cats and a dog, and the console is fairly close to the floor, so going vertical is a no no here.), which isn't ideal for cooling.

Anyway here's some pics:

I never said the 360 wasn't faulty. Far from it. But it's the only way I can play the games I want to. Oh well. Also, 99% of the time Windows fails is because people don't know how an OS works or they just plain suck at avoiding viruses and malware. Non of my many many many installations of Windows/Linux have failed so far.

I agree, Windows is fine. Well, XP is anyway (which is what I still use) and from the sounds of it 7 is going to be good.

If I get a 360 (I probably will eventually) I'm definitely going to set up some defenses in the way of it overheating. For $25 that new Nyko Intercooler sounds awesome. I'm the kind of guy who'll get into 18 hour long gaming sessions when I don't have anything to do or anywhere to be, so I'll have to figure out something. Maybe just limit myself in how much I play in one sitting before stopping or switching to PS3.

Can't believe I didn't see that previously, but I LOVE Galactic Battlegrounds. I'm always wookies. :D

Lost my DS's stylus while playing it at the Laundromat yesterday. Therefore, I went to Wal-Mart and bought a "DS starter kit", which included a screen cleaner, screen protectors, two DS cover slips and (most importantly) three styluses. Sadly, they are all too big too fit into my DS. Does the DS Lite have a bigger stylus or something?

I dunno. Perhaps this is a sign I need to upgrade to a Lite or DSi.

I got a PS3 slim today... Its strange, because I thought it wasn't supposed to come out till tomorrow, but its been selling since last week. This is my first next (current...) gen system. I considered a 360, but the hardware issues and the ps3 price drop made it a no brainer. One day I may get a 360, but not in the near future. I plan on getting a Wii at some point as well.

I also got Metal gear Solid 4, which is geat so far. Still really early.

Minor complaint: You have to install your games before you can play them. It took 8 minutes for metal gear. Its not that long and you only have to do it the first time, but its kinda lame.

Minor concern: I played for about an hour and when I turned it off the bottom of the system was quite hot. I dunno if it was the same for the old, bloated PS3. It might just be that its like 90 degrees here in LA and half the county is on fire...

I'm an idiot: at first, I pressed the eject button before putting the disk in because I thought there was a tray...there isn't one you just put the disk straight in. Lesson learned.

ERM. You have to install MGS anyways, and every chapter of that game. So, that really shouldn't be a complain (IMO). What other games did you have to install?

Y'know, I feel really bad for people who start with MGS4. It is hands-down the worst install-game on the PS3.

Most are much better. Some install as you play [see Fallout 3], Some do no installs [see CoD], and some have installs before you play [see most]. It isn't that bad, especially if it makes the games run at their best.

As for buttons....I rarely press mine. They are kinda figty now for me, but I usually just use my controller to turn on my PS3 and eject discs. I would suggest this as well.

As I understand it...Persona 2: Eternal Punishment takes places months after Innocent Sin...in a parallel world...where Innocent Sin never happened. I so figure it's not an issue...

Tomb Raider: Legend

I nearly beat this game a while ago...but never finished it. Maybe I can put the frustration of Underworld behind me...

I bout some stuff offa the WiiShop channel.

The Castlevania Adventure: Rebirth

The original Castlevania Adventure is what could be called a mediocre footnote in the series. The only thing even remotely memorable about it...is the stage one song "Battle of the Holy." So why would I buy a remake of this game? Cause I am Foxkei's official Castlevania superguru that's why! I even bought Judgment! I'll be sure to let you know what I think...

F-Zero X

My brother has been pining for F-Zero GX for the Gamecube for a few weeks now....but we no longer posses it..as the one we had belonged to someone else. So I downloaded this...and we ended up playing it for almost 2 hours...

DUDE! Why'd ya do that?! I was going to buy it for you and send it as a gift!

:neko_053:

Well, I'll just have to get you something else...I'll think of something I guess.

I too went crazy with some recently gained Wii Points on the Wii Shopping Channel. I got...

-FF:CC: My Life as a Dark Lord
-Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias
-The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (Favorite Zelda EVER)
-Sonic the Hedgehog 2
-Gunstar Heroes
-F-Zero X

And Alucard was nice enough to buy me Castlevania III

...You had to know...that the new Castlevania was the whole reason I got more Wiipoints....

..You don't have to get me anything...really...
