Program Installation

As part of a project I am currently working on, I need to know, is it possible to transport the installer for a program to another computer and use it on that computer to install the program?

For instance, if I downloading the installer for firefox and put it on a hard drive, and took that hard drive to another computer, and plugged it in. If I moved the installer from the hard drive to the computer, could I install it right there with no trouble?

And if so or not, does that answer remain correct for all situations? Like, do some programs allow that and some now?

Yeah you can move an installer around no problem. You can't copy an already installed program but you should be able to transfer the installer.
