The Guide to Jester's Posts
So now that I'm moving my overall posting to this site, I think I should outline a bit of how I do it for anyone interested. Or anyone that just started reading (Ha! Like I'll have people reading) what I've got. There are a few weird things I do in a lot of my posts, so I'm going to explain it here.
I write about a lot of different things, so some of this won't show up in a lot of posts, but it'll be out there. Somewhere. If you look around, you might even find it. “!”
So I'm going to elaborate on my overuse of (parenthesis). Just from this post, you can probably tell that it usually contains my thoughts on what I just typed or an elaboration on the idea, which seems unnecessary as what I'm typing should already be my thoughts on the subject... But, since I type a lot, I also use them a different way.
I like to type on and offline, so I use my word processor a lot. One of my favorite features on any good word processor has to be the synonyms tool, or the what-other-words-could-work-here tool. It's handy when you're writing and can't quite get what you're looking for, and it's also hilarious for when you throw context to the wind and pick what's funniest. I do the latter a lot, and I'll usually put parenthesis right after a part I've changed to show the word it should have been.
EXAMPLE:
BEFORE: John walked into the room, instantly feeling the need to destroy.
AFTER: John base on balls (walked) into the opportunity (room), instantly feeling the need to destruct (destroy).
Another thing I'll do at the end of most of my posts is the green paragraph. This section, as it'll be titled, is The Quick Version. I'll sum up everything interesting about what I just posted in a couple sentences. If you're work-shy (lazy), this is for you. Skip on down and get the summation!
I write about different things. Sometimes I'll post a random document I typed up, sometimes I'll post a clip of an IM conversation, sometimes it'll be what I've been up to, and others intent (will) be what's on my mind. Not everything makes sense, but I usually don't post it if I don't find it at least a little interesting.
Lastly, feel free to comment on any part of any post. If you're reading an senior (older) one and have a comment, add it! Just put the date or title of the post at the beginning of it's comment (You could use parenthesis!). I'm usually interested beyond when it was new, and I'll read it.

Games from my last decade. (1)
DISCLAIMER:
This is a late blog I wrote in early 2010 and never got around to posting. I didn't change anything about it since I wrote it (EXCEPT prices), so it will reference the date, and won't cover the newer stuff. But it didn't anyway. Hahaha
-=-=-= Starting behind.
As it’s now 2010, I’ve decided to go back and type a little about my gaming history in the last ten years. I think before I start, however, I should mention that I’ve always been a little behind as far as the consoles go. I started behind, and I’m currently behind. Because of this, I think I’m going to distinguish between games that I got around to PLAYING in the last ten years, and games that were RELEASED in the last ten years throughout this post.
Now, to go way back to early 2000. Back in the day of 10-and-a-half-year-old me, playing old games on the Sega Genesis and NES that my dad always had set up. I grew up around a lot of classic games, but never really took an interest in many over the years. In this time period, there were only two games I can say I ever really played and those were Tecmo Super Bowl and Road Rash. But I wasn’t really a gamer until years later when I got into the Playstation games we’d had.
Our family’s interest in the Playstation was sparked between my parents and the original Driver game. I couldn’t even guess at the number of hours everyone in the family had spent on that game. A little after that, we got another PS (So my parents could play driver in the den.), and the one inside was left open. This is about the time that my brothers and I found a game we will still rave about to this day, despite its low scores from just about everywhere. This game was Monsterseed (I know, you’ve never heard of it).
Monsterseed didn’t have an amazing story, good graphics, or tons of depth to it, but it did well in what I think matters more than a lot of things in games: fun. The game was just fun. All three of us put hour upon hour into that game, gathering up for our virtual matches against each other. The day that disc stopped working was a bad one, and we’ve been looking for another copy ever since (EDIT: Until now, as we’ve recently found one. Win.).
The first two PS games I ever bought (in late ’02. Got em late) were CTR: Crash Team Racing, and Gran Turismo 2. Both of these were widely played by the four of us kids too. While we played these, we came across demo discs people didn’t want, and we’d throw a little time into them, but not as much. I mention this because one of those discs had a demo of a game I bought down the line due to the demo alone.
Between then and the next game I mention there were many games that the four of us played, but we went back to four games in general over the rest. CTR, GT2, Monsterseed, and a game called Chocobo Racing. (Looking back, I never considered myself that big on racing games, but it sure seems like I preferred em back then, huh?)
It pretty much went that way until ’04, when I came across a kid in my class that had the game I’d developed a massive interest in through the aforementioned demo. That game was Metal Gear Solid.
Even though the demo had just two maps and was all in Japanese, I played it over and over again just to experience things over again. The demo just had a feel to it that I loved. From the opening cinemas of Snake being launched in and hearing about the mission to my crawling into the vent at the heliport, I was immersed in the atmosphere, and I’d been craving to find out what happened next in the game like I hadn’t in any other before then.
And then I had my chance. I got the game from the kid, with discs in great shape, the case and manual in good shape, and the pre-‘greatest hits’ label, for five dollars. I doubt I’ll ever make a more satisfying buy than that in my lifetime.
So I got the game, and I played through it, loved it, and played through it again. And then again, again, and again too many times. To this day I still put it on and run through it every now and then. It still has that mood and immersion to it that I loved way back when. While I had played games before this, Metal Gear Solid made me a gamer. I wanted to find more stuff like that.
Soon I learned that there was a sequel, and knew I had to have it. It took until this for me to want to catch up with gaming, but it happened. After that, I pushed to get a PS2. Later that year, I was lucky enough to get one as a Christmas gift. Now, leaving aside the obvious MGS2, this ushered in a new era of gaming for me. And said new era will be covered in the next entry. “!”

All my planned posts, big ideas for this thread, and bigger updates are on hold.
I lost my files to use, and my laptop to make more with.
Hopefully I'll have it fixed soon, but it's not like anyone's missing much.

I'm not gonna do a full post, but here's a quick update on me...
-Back to Oregon, looking for a job here.
-Laptop's half-fixed. Had to reformat the HD, and now I'm stuck looking for drivers. Got everything but the networking going. Which means I can't take it online and do it quick.
-Playing HD Peace Walker. Up for MP whenever I have a chance. I'll set up home internet as soon as I get things rolling here.
-Writing a bunch again. Hoping I can add a lot here soon, and planning to point all my other online activity back here...
That's all for now. Controllers suck for typing.

Some random questions, answer any or all if you feel like it:
1- If you could be anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go? (With who, if anyone?)
2- If you could meet anyone alive today, who would it be? (Why?)
3- If we had the power to send one thing back in time 100 years and you were chosen to pick that item, what would it be? (Two words: Laser Tag)
4- If you could acquire one [real] talent or ability overnight, what would it be? (to draw, play an instrument, write, a craft, etc)
5- If you could acquire any one ability, real or fantastic, what would it be?
6- If you had to live a day in the life of someone else, who would it be? (Why?)
?!-= What (big things) would you do with 20 million dollars?
7- If a billionaire offered you any one gift right now, without having to worry about cost or earning it, what would you want?
8- If you could put any one law into effect, disable any one law, or alter any one law, what would it be?

Now reintroducing: Me!
So since I'm doing this on other sites, and never really covered it here, I figure I should introduce myself a little more elaborately for anyone that might not know me. Or barely knows me. Either way. Only so many of you talked to me on YIM, or 1up back in the day, and I imagine a lot of you still just kinda graze over what I type anyway. Guess you'll all miss this, too. Hahaha
Anyway! I'm JesterDK. I live in Oregon (currently, at least) and love it. I'm from a decently sized family, and am the oldest of four kids (a sister and two more brothers).
I'm drawn to creative aspects of things. Interesting stories, ideas, art, concepts, etc, can all keep me busy for a long long time. I love to create things, but usually end up being too impatient to follow an idea or project through to the end.
I also like to game in my free time, but find myself getting pickier as time goes by. I'll take a good MP game based on certain gameplay features alone, but in a single player game I'm definitely in it for story or atmosphere. Nothing else will make or break a game for me as much (especially not graphics. So long as I know what I'm seeing, I'm usually good). I love finding something I can recommend to people.
Music is another one of the big things I like. Since I started buying CDs a few years back, I now have over 90 of em, and counting. Yeah, CDs... I like having the little booklets, the physical copy, and the actual artwork. It feels more like I own it when I physically own it.
Outside of that, I like hanging out. Talking. Basics. I can be easily entertained, and I love it. I don't care much where I work, or what I'm doing, or how much I'm making so much as I'm getting by and still having time for the little dumb things, like sitting around and BSing with friends. At this point in my life, at least, that's the best stuff.
...Well, I can't think of much else, so that's it for now. Brief background on Jester. We'll see who reads it. Hahaha

So, my laptop's out of order again. My OS is out this time, and I need either a replacement disc somehow (so I can repair and hopefully keep my files), or a new OS and a hard drive reformatting, again.
I hope I don't have to reformat, because I don't have the network drivers outside of the HD, and not being able to get online to get drivers sucks.

I am currently here, on foxkei, on my PS3. Through a wireless internet signal that's being given out by a phone.
It's good enough to play (at least certain) games online over, too, I've found out. Technology owns. Hahaha
