So, here we are again. Time for Gaming Trivia!

Let's start out with something simple, something that has nothing to do with Prince of Persia, Disgaia, Yakuza, or any other foreign-sound game title...

The original Warcraft game featured two different factions to choose from. What were the factions?

Heiae
12-30-2008, 07:45 PM
Orcs and humans, I think.

RedWizard
12-30-2008, 07:46 PM
Why, that would be correct! Your question!

Heiae
12-30-2008, 07:53 PM
River City Ransom was modified to appeal to a North American audience from its original form. What was the original game titled?

RedWizard
12-30-2008, 08:22 PM
Downtown Hot-Blood Story?

Heiae
12-30-2008, 09:42 PM
No, but I want to make a movie with that title now.

RedWizard
12-30-2008, 11:33 PM
Dauntaun Nekketsu Monogatari? Downtown Nekketsu Story? Street Gangs?

Heiae
12-30-2008, 11:36 PM
Well, you were right the first time. I was just looking for the Japanese title specifically, and completely forgot what it was translated there for a minute.

My apologies, dear Red!

Your go!

RedWizard
12-30-2008, 11:45 PM
Well, alrighty then.

What can the Tanooki Suit allow Mario or Luigi to do that the Raccoon Leaf cannot?

KnightAttack
12-30-2008, 11:47 PM
Well, alrighty then.

What can the Tanooki Suit allow Mario or Luigi to do that the Raccoon Leaf cannot?

Turn into a stone statue.

RedWizard
12-31-2008, 12:02 AM
You got it!

KnightAttack
12-31-2008, 12:06 AM
Okay.

What was the first Star Wars FPS?

Heiae
12-31-2008, 12:07 AM
Dark Forces?

RedWizard
12-31-2008, 12:09 AM
Okay.

What was the first Star Wars FPS?

I already know its wrong, but I'll guess Shadows of the Empire. I can't think of the correct one for the life of me, even though I can see the game clearly in my head.

KnightAttack
12-31-2008, 02:51 AM
Dark Forces?

Yes.

Dark Forces is correct.

Heiae
12-31-2008, 02:57 AM
Sweet.

What LucasArts adventure game character makes an appearance in Dark Forces as a cameo, and even fights along side you if you fulfill the right conditions?

Umbrae
12-31-2008, 03:49 AM
Mesa thinks Jar Jar Binks.

KnightAttack
12-31-2008, 03:53 AM
Mesa thinks Jar Jar Binks.

Mesa think you wrong since Dark Forces came out in '95 :p.

I know the answer. It actually predates the first game in the series I believe.

Umbrae
12-31-2008, 04:51 AM
Mesa read Dark Force as Force Unleashed.

RedWizard
12-31-2008, 02:15 PM
Mesa think you wrong since Dark Forces came out in '95 :p.

I know the answer. It actually predates the first game in the series I believe.

If you know the answer, share it with the rest of us.

KnightAttack
12-31-2008, 02:52 PM
The answer is Sam.

From Sam And Max.

Ironically the guy who voiced him later, voiced Kyle Katarn first.

Heiae
12-31-2008, 02:57 PM
Knight is right!

When I found him when I first played the game when I was like 10, I had no clue what the heck he was, but I knew he wasn't from Star Wars. I later found out he was from Sam & Max!

Your go.

KnightAttack
12-31-2008, 11:55 PM
Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II featured Kyle Katarn once again, In the end, if you chose the light side, he began protecting what Jedi Secret?

[Also the focus of JK2]

Heiae
12-31-2008, 11:56 PM
The Valley of the Jedi, right?

KnightAttack
01-01-2009, 02:24 AM
Yes.

Heiae
01-01-2009, 04:17 PM
Final Fantasy Tactics gave you the ability to recruit Cloud from FFVII. The remake, War of the Lions for the PSP, added two more recruitable characters from later titles. Who were they?

RedWizard
01-01-2009, 04:18 PM
Um... Vivi and Tidus?

Heiae
01-01-2009, 04:20 PM
No.

They're both from games that call Ivalice home.

RedWizard
01-01-2009, 04:21 PM
Oh. Well, I'm not a big fan of Ivalice games in general.

Heiae
01-01-2009, 04:23 PM
I am! I love Ivalice. The Matsuno/Yoshida combo of awesome never tires for me.

And now I wait for the correct answer.

RedWizard
01-01-2009, 04:25 PM
I'll guess Balthier and Cidolfas Orlandu. Yeah. Cuz I'm BA like that.

Heiae
01-01-2009, 04:30 PM
Well, you got one. Balthier is indeed one of the two!

But Orlandeau.. was sorta already in FFT. 'Cause that's where he's from.

RedWizard
01-01-2009, 04:34 PM
At least I tried! He's the only other guy I know from the Ilvalice games.

SnakeEyez
01-01-2009, 07:48 PM
Huh. I knew Balthier was in the game, but I didn't know there was another guest character.

Let's say Balthier and...Basch, maybe?

Heiae
01-01-2009, 07:49 PM
Nope.

I'll give you guys another clue. "Grimoire."

SnakeEyez
01-01-2009, 07:52 PM
Uh...Balthier and Advocat?

RedWizard
01-02-2009, 03:54 PM
Balthier and the Ambiguously Gay Duo?

Heiae
01-02-2009, 03:57 PM
Most blatant clue ever:

Final Fantasy Tactics A2.

RedWizard
01-02-2009, 04:02 PM
The hell would I know that? I've never even played any Tactics game. And why is it that 75% of strategy RPGs have the word "tactics" in the title?

Heiae
01-02-2009, 04:10 PM
The thing about Trivia is.. you might not know everything!

RedWizard
01-02-2009, 06:38 PM
The thing about Trivia is.. you might not know everything!

Me? Not knowing everything? Ha ha ha! Surely you jest!

ChukoLiang
01-02-2009, 07:15 PM
balthier...and...fran?

edit: FFTA2? Never played it. Guess I'm out.

Hero_X
01-02-2009, 07:17 PM
fran and balthier

ReverendHobo
01-02-2009, 07:23 PM
I don't even play final fantasy...

Balthier and Titus?

Heiae
01-02-2009, 07:28 PM
It was the main character of FFTA2. Luso.

Luso and Balthier.

Red, I'm going to give this to you, because you got the Balthier portion correct first. So, your go.

WanderingMind
01-02-2009, 08:35 PM
The thing about Trivia is.. you might not know everything!

True that...

RedWizard
01-02-2009, 09:01 PM
It was the main character of FFTA2. Luso.

Luso and Balthier.

Red, I'm going to give this to you, because you got the Balthier portion correct first. So, your go.

Hmm, didn't see that coming...

There are two locations in Fable II that are also in the original Fable. Name two of them.

ChukoLiang
01-03-2009, 10:36 PM
bowerstone and oakvale?

RedWizard
01-03-2009, 11:13 PM
You win the mile! How did what's your secret?

Your go-go!

ChukoLiang
01-04-2009, 04:40 AM
In the original Devil May Cry (Since I started playing it again...) what is the name of the first boss, the infamous "magma spider"? He has a proper name, I promise.

Heiae
01-04-2009, 04:49 AM
Phantom.

RedWizard
01-10-2009, 01:14 AM
I'll take a guess with "Flaming Legs."

ChukoLiang
01-10-2009, 02:38 AM
whoa, sorry guys. Heiae got it. I apologize for not paying attention.

Heiae
01-10-2009, 02:43 AM
Dante's (Devil May Cry) mother was named?

Umbrae
01-10-2009, 04:49 AM
Slut.

Baberific
01-10-2009, 05:29 AM
lisa?? Trish??? mary??? I DON'T REMEMBER!!!

RedWizard
01-11-2009, 02:05 PM
Heiae's Mom?

AmuroRay
01-11-2009, 03:32 PM
Slut.

:neko_099::neko_099:

Eva?

Heiae
01-11-2009, 10:49 PM
It's Eva. Go Amuro.

AmuroRay
01-11-2009, 11:06 PM
What's the Enclave's base called in Fallout 3?

RedWizard
01-11-2009, 11:32 PM
Raven Rock

AmuroRay
01-11-2009, 11:36 PM
Yup Red, you are correct. Your question.

RedWizard
01-11-2009, 11:41 PM
What is the Enclave's refueling base called in Fallout 2?

Hero_X
01-16-2009, 06:13 PM
gah. i should know this one. ugh.

RedWizard
01-20-2009, 04:57 PM
OK, I didn't think it was that tough. Or maybe everyone isn't interested enough in Fallout 2 to know the answer... Well, get interested! Fallout 2 is better than Fallout 3! Anyways, the correct answer is Navarro. That said, I propose a new question!

Name any four (4) of Mog's dances from Final Fantasy VI.

ChukoLiang
01-20-2009, 10:24 PM
snowman jazz, desert aria, love sonata, forest suite.

SnakeEyez
01-20-2009, 11:18 PM
Dang...I was too late for this one.

RedWizard
01-21-2009, 01:19 AM
Bwah ha ha ha ha ha! Everybody goes for the Moogles! You're up.

ChukoLiang
01-21-2009, 01:42 AM
Ahem.

The final boss of the Super Smash Brothers games in every game BUT Brawl is the Master Hand.

Name the nintendo character who starred in his own game and was also a hand. He was one of a wizard's two hands, separated after an accident. The other hand got all jacked up and turned dark green and crap.

RedWizard
01-21-2009, 01:43 AM
Glover!

ChukoLiang
01-21-2009, 01:47 AM
indeed! You are correct. Good, I was hoping that wasn't too obscure.

I beat that game with a gameshark. I died on the final boss so many times...

RedWizard
01-21-2009, 01:50 AM
Finish this game's slogan (or, name the game!):

"It is the nineties, and there is time for ______!"

ChukoLiang
01-21-2009, 01:57 AM
well, the answer I've found that works most is...

"Booze"?

RedWizard
01-21-2009, 02:03 AM
That would be pretty funny. There is a game called Rootbeer Tapper...

SnakeEyez
01-21-2009, 02:43 AM
...celebration?

RedWizard
01-21-2009, 03:05 AM
Sorry, but no. Would it help if I said that the word you're looking for isn't a real word?

AmuroRay
01-21-2009, 03:29 AM
shananigans?

RedWizard
01-21-2009, 04:11 AM
Also no.

Robobvious
01-21-2009, 04:33 AM
I googled it, I wouldn't have known that.

SnakeEyez
01-21-2009, 11:15 PM
Flarfdingle?

Robobvious
01-22-2009, 12:41 AM
ROBOBVIOUS DEMANDS a NEW QUESTION!

Hero_X
01-23-2009, 11:24 PM
i want a new question too

SnakeEyez
01-24-2009, 01:46 AM
Okay, I cheated and looked it up. The answer is Klax. "It is the nineties, and there is time for Klax!" Never heard of it, but yeah.

What is the name of Sketch Turner's pet rat in Comix Zone?

RedWizard
01-24-2009, 02:18 AM
Roadkill!

SnakeEyez
01-24-2009, 04:11 AM
Raodkill!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/SnakeEyez8/PoorSpelingHammer.png

The correct answer is actually "Roadkill," but I'll give it to you anyway.

RedWizard
01-24-2009, 04:31 PM
OK. Let's try a little visual trivia, mmk? Below are several images from a SNES game. What is the title of the videogame? And, for extra credit, who developed it?

Heiae
01-24-2009, 04:35 PM
Why am I thinking Valis? That isn't Valis..

RedWizard
01-24-2009, 04:46 PM
Heh, nope, its not. Here's a few more to help.

Robobvious
01-25-2009, 08:39 PM
I say we implement a day rule, if a question is up for 24 hours without an answer someone asks a new one. That will really keep this thread going.

RedWizard
01-25-2009, 09:26 PM
I heartily disagree. Not once in the days since Pikei have we needed such an arbitrary rule.

Robobvious
01-25-2009, 09:36 PM
It keeps the RE: Trivia thread on PS.com going, where as with this one no one knows the answer so no one posts so it dies until someone's like **** it new question. I like trivia, so I'd rather not have to wait a week for a new question whenever one is too obscure.

ChukoLiang
01-27-2009, 12:34 AM
the guy's got a bit of a point. A two day rule would be better though.

Because I completely forgot this thread existed several times.

EDIT: It's not...an old odin sphere, is it?

Heiae
01-27-2009, 12:38 AM
We've never had such a rule, and I really don't think it's necessary. Everyone's pretty good at changing the question if no one gets it after a few days.

Red especially, 'cause he pulls out crazy stuff. Hahaha!

ChukoLiang
01-27-2009, 12:56 AM
well I'm wishy washy. I'm with heiae, he makes a good point.

SnakeEyez
01-28-2009, 12:08 AM
That is totally not Actraiser, but I'm gonna guess that anyway.

Robobvious
01-28-2009, 03:21 AM
well I'm wishy washy. I'm with heiae, he makes a good point.

Gee, thanks for remembering who I am! :neko_041:

RedWizard
01-28-2009, 01:44 PM
Well, here's the answer(s):

The game was developed by Atlus, and the title of it is Run Saber. As you can see, there are actually two playable characters, but I never use the dude since he lacks the style that the chick has... Oh well.

There are 2 hidden characters in Final Fantasy VI. Who are they?

ChukoLiang
01-28-2009, 03:39 PM
Gogo and Umaro

RedWizard
01-28-2009, 04:53 PM
Gee. That was so tough. I can't believe you got it so quickly.

You is up.

Heiae
01-28-2009, 07:28 PM
Hahah.. I always use the DUDE on Run Saber. I guess that's a part of me not recognizing it.

I love that game, but it's been so long since I've played it.

You know, I actually considered saying Run Saber..

RedWizard
01-28-2009, 08:28 PM
Run Saber! I just said it out loud!

Heiae
01-28-2009, 08:29 PM
What are you rambling about?!

RedWizard
01-28-2009, 08:35 PM
Hahah.. I always use the DUDE on Run Saber. I guess that's a part of me not recognizing it.

I love that game, but it's been so long since I've played it.

You know, I actually considered saying Run Saber..

I more than just considered it... I actually said it! Aloud!

Heiae
01-28-2009, 09:27 PM
But you asked the question! That's not fair!

CHEATER!

RedWizard
01-28-2009, 09:57 PM
Yeah well... the only dumb answer is the one... not answered... uh... ...

ChukoLiang
01-28-2009, 09:58 PM
What is the first line of the FFVI opera sequence? Three words. FFVI music just came on, you see.

SnakeEyez
01-28-2009, 11:46 PM
"Oh my darling..."

RedWizard
02-02-2009, 02:36 AM
the guy's got a bit of a point. A two day rule would be better though.

Because I completely forgot this thread existed several times.

Oooooooooooooooh...

PSM is a hypocrite, PSM is a hypocrite, PSM is a hypocriiiiiiiiite!

Sing it with me, oh yeah!

Robobvious
02-02-2009, 02:43 AM
I can't remember, but I thought that opera was very romantic, if not overdone. Waiting for her man to come back from war, etc. I think we need more Opera's like that, I want to see Pagliacci though, that's the one with the sad clown. Why is he sad you ask? He found his wife cheating on him and in a fit of rage killed her. Unfortunately I don't speak Italian though.

ChukoLiang
02-03-2009, 01:01 AM
"Oh my darling..."

sorry everyone for the delay. First two words correct, but it's not "darling"

RedWizard
02-03-2009, 01:20 AM
Wait, isn't it "Oh, my hero..."?

ChukoLiang
02-03-2009, 01:36 AM
yes!

"So far away now, will I ever see your smile?

Love goes away, like night into day, it's just a fadiiing dreeeeaaaam"

RedWizard
02-03-2009, 11:56 PM
OK, how about a little bit more picture trivia, just to keep things interesting?

The four images below are from what SNES game?

Baberific
02-03-2009, 11:57 PM
ugh....what pics??? I SEE NOTHING!!

ChukoLiang
02-03-2009, 11:58 PM

ChukoLiang
02-04-2009, 12:00 AM
there we go.

AmuroRay
02-04-2009, 12:00 AM
I too see no images....perhaps it's microscopic hidden within his avatar?!

EDIT: Nvm....

Heiae
02-04-2009, 12:00 AM
You just added them, liar!

But they're from.. Crap.. What's the name.. WHAT IS THE NAME!?!?! There was a Game Boy game too! WHAT IS THE NAME?!

EDIT: DEMON'S CREST!

RedWizard
02-04-2009, 02:07 AM
You just added them, liar!

I love tormenting you.

And yes, that's it, Demon's Crest. Highly underrated, highly awesome, highly... Gaming Masochist-worthy.

You're up.

Heiae
02-08-2009, 03:02 PM
Final Fantasy Legend was actually.. WHAT GAME in Japan?

RedWizard
02-08-2009, 03:08 PM
Hell. It was one of the SaGa games, or rather, it grew into the SaGa series... man...

Heiae
02-08-2009, 03:12 PM
You're right. The full title is "Makai Toushi Sa-Ga," but I think just SaGa will do just fine.

RedWizard
02-08-2009, 03:17 PM
Oh snap! OK.

The Final Fantasy Adventure was eventually re-released (years later) as what title?

Heiae
02-08-2009, 03:34 PM
Uhh.. Mystic Quest or something?

RedWizard
02-08-2009, 03:45 PM
Nope. Hint: It was on a hand held platform.

Heiae
02-08-2009, 08:13 PM
Adventure was titled Mystic Quest in PAL regions, I think. So that's where I got that from..

All I know is Adventure started the Mana series. I dunno what it was re-released as.

RedWizard
02-08-2009, 08:42 PM
That was basically what I was going for, starting the Mana series. It was rereleased as Sword of Mana for the GBA. You're up.

Robobvious
02-09-2009, 01:03 AM
Fuck I missed two questions I would have known instantly had I been here.

Heiae

What was the main antagonist of the weird, uncanon flop that was SNAKE'S REVENGE?

AlucardsFate
02-09-2009, 01:15 AM
OH! HIGHROLLA COKAMAIME! (I dunno the exact spelling)

Robobvious
02-09-2009, 01:17 AM
Shit, I can't remember if you actually fought it or just destroyed it but... Metal Gear II? If not then the answer is Big (Robot-like) Boss lol.

Heiae
02-09-2009, 01:18 AM
Alucards is right!

Robobvious
02-09-2009, 01:20 AM
Highrolla cockamaime? Wtf am I thinking of?

AlucardsFate
02-09-2009, 01:23 AM
Highrolla cockamaime? Wtf am I thinking of?

Metal Gear D in the official Sequel "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake" Perhaps?

Either way...lemme think of for a sec...

Star Wars for the NES is a particularly difficult game...having a limited number of continues and also due to the fact that when Han or Leia die...they stay dead..even if Luke loses a life.

How many times can you use Obi Wan to ressurect someone?

Baberific
02-09-2009, 01:50 AM
only 3 times, since it's tough out there for a jedi.

you know what....MAYBE NONE!!

Robobvious
02-09-2009, 02:26 AM
once?

AlucardsFate
02-09-2009, 02:28 AM

02-09-2009, 02:33 AM
yeah they can, you come back all blue and ghost-like.

KomodoAce
02-09-2009, 02:36 AM
he doesn't revive you, since JEDI'S CAN'T DO THAT.

Not to derail but that little story Palpatine told Anakin in Episode 3. About a Sith having the power to revive people from the dead.

Question for the really die-hard SW fans here (Heiae I'm lookin' at you). Did a Sith ever exist that really had that power?

Oh crap I just remembered that thing about Obi-Wan learning how to do that from Qui Gon or something like that.

AlucardsFate
02-09-2009, 02:37 AM
he doesn't revive you, since JEDI'S CAN'T DO THAT.

Well..in this game he can...exactly _ times....

ChukoLiang

Guitar...? Well, she fights with an axe, so I'll give it to you. Next question is yours.

To answer your question, Ed: No, she's a boss. Like Hero_X said, she was Amarant's partner. You fight her once in Fossil Roo.

Well...

It wasn't rechristened the Vampire Killer until Sara Trantoul's now damned soul was merged with it.

Before then, it was referred to as the "Whip of Alchemy" when it was given to Leon Belmont by Rinaldo.

If that is indeed what you are referring to...

Heiae

Heh, I guess I should have clarified exactly what I was asking. Although both Alucard and Heiae-Man were correct (canonically speaking), I was actually asking chronologically. See, in the old Castlevania games, (Castlevania through Super Castlevania IV), it was actually called the Mystic Whip. But yes, before it was called Vampire Killer, it was called the Whip of Alchemy. So congrats to everyone who found the answer I didn't and bones to everyone who didn't find the answer I did! Hurrah! Al is up. Or that other guy, via Al's good graces.

That sir is Rick the Hamster, first originated in Kirby's Dreamland 2 for the Nintendo Gameboy. He's one of Kirby's pals and is the only one with good traction on ice.

Yup, you can see him there too along with a lot of Kirby's other buddies from Dreamland 2 and 3.

OKAY.

This one might be easy for some of you but I'm gonna try anyway...

In Final Fantasy VI/III, the character Mog has the special technique known as Dance. These are acquired by using him in battle in specific enviornments.

However, one dance can ONLY be learned in the World of Balance, and the other can ONLY be learned in the World of Ruin.

Name the two dances, and where they must be learned (location and which world).

Anyway, to complete Ed's answer, you use Water Rondo while fighting underwater in the Serpent Trench (which you can only do once in the World of Balance), and you use Snowman Jazz while fighting in the mountains in Narshe (which you can't reach with Mog until the World of Ruin). Yeah. Guess it's still Ed's question since he answered first, but there you go.
