To Glassadam or KomodoAce (since as far as I know, you're the only other two who own one):
Is there some way to turn off the Zune HD that I'm simply not aware of? Because I seem to keep having issues with the battery.
I was under the impression that if I simply press the power button at the top that it turns off the screen and therefore the device. Do I need to HOLD it down or something, because I thought that reset the Zune?
Am I missing something here?
On an unrelated note (but since it saves me the trouble of making two threads), I know at one point someone was discussing the use of Youtube to MP3 converters. Could someone point that out again? Or better yet, maybe help me out by downloading a pair of MP3s and then maybe emailing them to me?
They're free, I'm just having issues with my laptop being entirely stupid.

You're putting it into standby mode.
You're correct in holding the power button down (for about 3 seconds) but when you do that, whatever your screensaver is should drop down like blinds on a window.
It''ll only go halfway the screen. To power it down completely, you should swipe down the "blinds" all the way. Then your Zune will close completely.
Your battery should NOT be dying that fast. I use mine for maybe 6 hours a day, and it can last me three days.
You may want to check that your wifi is off since that kills the battery. I'm using medium brightness.
For the other question, I would NOT recommend youtube to mp3 converters since the quality is shit.
I'd love to download the mp3s you need, but my internet connection is garbage and it would take a while to get it done.

Many thanks.
Well, I know for a fact I have the wireless on. Which...is ultimately pointless since it's not connecting to my router anyway.
I'll turn it off. Thanks for the info and advice. And thank you for offering to download them as well.

No problem man. Wifi sucks the battery hard. Definitely turn it off.

Yeah that wifi is a battery killer. As Komodo said, the battery should last you a good couple of days of pretty heavy use (I use mine throughout my workday-- 10 hour shifts-- and only charge it every couple of days). If turning wifi off doesn't solve the problem, let us know, as it may be something else going on.
As for a youtube-to-mp3 converter, I use Youtube Downloader. The interface can be sort of confusing but it works. As Komodo said (again), the quality likely won't be great, but hey you're listening to mp3s so quality wasn't really a concern to begin with! :D

Thanks GlassAdam!
No, if quality were my highest concern, I'd buy more CDs. But since it's not (plus, the disk drive in my lappy is still broken), I'm content with MP3s for convenience sake.
And thank you again. Now that I actually know how to power down the device (versus putting it on stand-by...which I genuinely thought were one in the same) and I turned off wi-fi, I SHOULD have better luck with it.
Thanks again guys for the help.

The only time I've ever turned off my Zune was, uh.... The first day I got it, just to try it. I never power mine down. :\
