Batman Comic/Cartoon Spoilers

They killed Jason Todd and then revived him as an anti-hero? What is this bullshit? Granted, I haven't watched the cartoon or read the comic, but today my friend told me about this and I was shocked.

Anybody else got something to say?

Actually...I think it's damn smart.

I mean...Jason Todd was a character that nobody liked. So much so that the fans voted to kill him. Now you have him back in a place...where you aren't supposed to like him. I can dig the reasoning...

Really? I didn't know that. I wonder why nobody liked him...

Dick Grayson was an ass, so I don't see why fans wouldn't hate on him.

P.S. So why does he call himself Red Hood? Is it an homage to Robin Hood?

It's a name he assumed that was a moniker of various other villains before him.

What I will say is I'm kinda shocked you're learning about this now.

It was also the moniker of the Joker before he was The Joker.

Yeah they brought him back.

I used to think it was a stupid idea but they really made him into a well-developed character. And Hobo got it right.

Tim was lucky. Fans didn't want to kill him. Because bitches love Tim.

Bitches love Dick more but Tim is carrying on Dick's tradition of a thousand babes wanting his fundangles 24/7.

I don't really follow comic books, so I wasn't really aware of any of that.

Anyway, so what now? Do they have a new Robin?

They do.

The new Robin is Batman's son (by way of Talia Al-Ghul), Damien Wayne.

Tim Drake, who was the Robin before Damien, went off on his own and is now known as Red Robin. He's not in Gotham City as far as I know (Heiae knows more about Red Robin than I do).

Dick Grayson, who was the first Robin, went on to become Batman. And soon there will be TWO Batmans in Gotham City as soon as Bruce makes his way back to the present after being "teleported" back in time.

Currently, Batman and The Walking Dead are the only two comic books I follow.

Red Robin/Tim is in Gotham now. He was hopping all over the world trying to find proof that Bruce was alive and soon returned after getting tied up with Ra's League of Assassins and a plot by Ra's to kill everyone in and related to the "Bat-family."

He currently lives in Wayne tower but is trying to figure out what to do on his own.

Red Robin is good stuff, man. Especially recent issues.

I tried the first two issues but it didn't seem to "click" with me. If you say it gets better then I'll give it another shot.

Really starts going around issue 6 when Marcus To jumps on the book.

I hate to revive a long dead thread (well...I sort of do...) but I just realized no one answered this question.

The reason so many fans hated Jason is because while Dick (the first Robin) was often portrayed as spunky, fun and a generally nice kid, Jason was often portrayed as a smarmy, annoying, smart ass. Apparently, this did not gel with lots of people.

When the opportunity came along for fans to call in and vote on Jason's fate following his beating by the Joker and they subsequently voted to kill him off (although it was apparently by a somewhat slim margin), DC had no choice but to follow through.

The head editor at the time got lots of grief over the decision though. A lot of people assumed that DICK had been killed instead of JASON (since not everyone was aware he had grown up to become Nightwing) and this definietly resulted in a lot of hate mail.
