You may have heard that there is an Angry Video Game Nerd Movie in the works. James Rolfe and company have been ironing out the details for a while now, it seems, and they're ready to start shooting the movie early next year. As a longtime fan of the Nerd, I am excited to see how it turns out.

Shooting a movie isn't cheap, though, so the Nerd has opened up a fundraiser to collect money from fans who want to help out with the project. Details of the fundraiser can be found here.

They have a reward system set up where you'll receive various goodies by donating a certain amount. Think of it as extra encouragement to help fund this project. I will be donating $30 to the fundraiser so I can score an autographed picture.

I received an email from CineMassacre thanking me for donating to the AVGN movie. It contained a link to a video where the Nerd reviewed "Elmo's Letter Adventure" for the N64. Only those who donated get to see the video, so I definitely feel like one of the cool kids.

If you check the donation page (http://www.indiegogo.com/Angry-Video-Game-Nerd-The-Movie), you'll see that the amount has actually gone past the $150,000 mark since then. Now that's impressive.

The AVGN Movie fundraiser (http://www.indiegogo.com/angry-video-game-nerd-the-movie) ended yesterday. When they first started the fundraiser back in November, their original goal was $75,000. When all was said and done, they ended up raising $325,927. Holy crap. It's the second highest online fan-funded film of all time. According the James Rolfe (here (http://cinemassacre.com/2012/01/31/avgn-movie-fundraiser-ending/)), the movie could very well end up being 100% fan-funded, which will allow them to have total creative control over the script and everything.

Though my contribution was small, it does feel good to know that I helped something like this. I can't wait to see the movie when it's all finished. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
