The items only affect voting, That way even 2 weak opponents could take down stronger opponents.

Let me add something, it would help to win a match if you give a cutscene like strategy, such as discussing what to do with the items of course it is not manditory.

The Prize money thing can only be used after the tournaments, Ill keep a record of who bought what and how much money they have left, if they are un-sure all they have to do is ask me and these upgrades can be modified into the match for an advantage.

There is a restriction on using magics, and buying a magic tier increase before each match can increase the chances of winning but the magic tier increase can be stacked up to 6 and 3 are removed after each tournament.

All items can only be use once, if you choose not to use the ones your provided with they are transferred to an inventory.

There will be 40 contestants each number is a tag-team which means 10 matches, the ones chosen on the end only have to win one to get into the semi-finals I will put only the returning fighters with the best records in there if any are used.

Shop system: Get Items before match that can help you win said match> Win match Items not used, stored for another time (after the tournament)>
End of Tournament> Shops open for buying items with the money you win>
Items are bought and characters are modified before the tournaments and I ask for the stats and item guides(How many items you have bought, what items you would like to use in matches to maximize team strength)>Confirmation period> Tournament starts again

To purchase items I could either make a shop thread or you could send me a message and for each naminator I will keep a personal bank sheet that holds the following info

Total money use

Money left

Total Items bought

The beauty of The Anime & RPG Tournaments is that at their core, they are actually pretty simple. (People like me make it complicated) No big variables, it's pretty much win or lose. The character's themselves will come with their own long list of variables to spice things up, and you seem intent on adding more...which is only going to serve to over-complicate things.

Ambition is fine, but find a solid, simple formula first...and then refine it. The other tournaments have changed very little over time...only undergone minor changes mostly from the people involved. (To toot my own horn for a second...I think I've done wonders for the idea of in match character promotion)

Umm, Ive never been very interested in these tournaments, mainly because of lack of enough knowledge on anime and RPGs. But I have to agree you're making it way to complicated for this to work smoothly and in a satisfactory manner for all participants.

Honestly though, if you can't pitch an idea clearly and coherently, without multiple people instantly pointing out flaws, then you should probably take it back to the drawing board and try again later. Preferably with spell check and a proofreader.

This can work...this is your one hook...don't add a million others.

Specifically...Anime and RPG's are judged in VERY different ways. RPG's involve less of the voter's perception then facts and figures....while anime is the total reverse. Combining them gets really messy. (Unless of course the character in question has appeared in both at some capacity...Example: Super Sailor Moon)

As far as DBZ characters...they are too vaguely powerful to really judge at all. A lot of obscenely powerful characters have specific abilities that allow you to judge them against other things...but they stand alone in that their power...is to be powerful. They all throw different but exactly the same attacks, and while they claim to have some kind of power hierarchy, certain people become more powerful then others when it's convenient to move the story along. That's why adding them is a dangerous game to play...

The Items? Just no...that is adding too many unnecessary layers.

For what it's worth, the item idea could be interesting if you were just doing an RPG tournament. It would give a lot of one-dimensional RPG fighters a healing edge (or elemental damage), so it would reward fighters who can fight longer matches and have deeper resources. It would be an interesting twist on how the RPG tourney already works.

Pairing up the RPG and Anime fighters at all seems pretty difficult to interpret, though. Especially when you consider how many godlike deities exist in RPGs... and then you put them in a setting where stats don't matter so the only way to judge them is based on their plot powers... Which are generally going to be a LOT stronger than their in-game prowess. (All Valkyrie Profile characters are technically minor Gods and would be on par with the DBZ freaks! Suikoden characters with True Runes are similar.)

A good example of a pairing that breaks your tournament in half - Fou-lu (Breath of Fire IV) & Sailor Saturn (Sailor Moon). Multi-dimensional dragon god + destroys the universe-girl...

And there's probably even more broken combinations out there that I haven't thought of that are way worse than just DBZ characters...

Dbz characters are allowed but characters have to be in there original form.

No item shop system and the winner of the tournament gets a cookie.

Then you also held those unofficial team Anime and RPG tournies between seasons once. Back when we were trying a new format. I don't really remember who my RPG picks were... I'm thinking The Chosen One from Fallout 2 and somebody else. I dunno. My Anime picks were Ravage from Transformers and John Blade from SiN. Good times.

To be honest, it's because you made things too complicated. It should be a straight 2 on 2 fight. You didn't need the items or points, or whatever. Keep it simple. The tournament should be all about the fights, not shopping.
