I am thinking about getting an ipod shuffle. For my birthday a couple years ago, my dad installed a custom firewire plug with a new stereo in my car that let me plug my nano directly in and would play. Unfortunately it didn't let me choose what song I wanted to hear so I eventually sold it.
I still have the plug in my car, the male part, and I was wondering if there were some kind of female firewire to 3.5mm jack somewhere out there that would let me plug in a shuffle since it doesnt use firewire?

I couldn't turn anything up...but searching for these things online kinda sucks...
Find your local electronic bits and bobs shop (Radio Shack or something similar) and explain your problem...see if they have some tiny adapter or something...

Did you plug your iPods directly to the Firewire? 'Cause as far as I know, iPods don't work with Firewire... it has to be USB. o.O

That can't be right can it? I remember we used to sell Apple branded firewire cords for Ipod at Compusa...

Hypothetically, It's possible, but I really don't know enough about it.
I would suggest emailing a company that might sell you the stuff. Most are fairly helpful.

I don't think there is any Lady.
I just use a FM Transmitter for mine if you wanna listen to some tunes in your car. Worked every time ever since I got my Mini and its still working.
Transmitters least expensive I've seen is $20.

I think the older Classics used to come with Firewire cable.
Older generation iPods work with Firewire, but now it's all USB.
Like Amuro said, FM transmitters work too. They're reasonable priced depending where you buy them.

I'll just have to see if the cable in my car can be changed to a jack then. I had that nano a couple of years ago and they change the damn ipods every 5 seconds so that would explain it. =_=
