Blue Drop: Tenshitachi no Gikyoku is finally here!

Blue Drop

I have been waiting for this day! Finally, a company smart enough to release non-mainstream anime titles. Gotta give props to Sentai Filmworks and Section23 Films for recognizing and releasing such great series. Section23′s website is currently under construction, but check out Wikipedia for some info and their releases. They’re also bringing Kannazuki no Miko and Maria†Holic!

Anyway, back to Blue Drop, I was mesmerized when I first watched the first episode back in 2007 when it was being aired. The first episode had me hooked. It’s too bad not a lot of people know about its greatness. I tried showing it to my buddies, but alas, they didn’t appreciate the theme, story-line, or even the beautiful animation. This thirteen episode series is one of my favorites. You can purchase the complete collection from: Amazon, B&N, and Boarders.

Blue Drop’s DVD cover has a beautiful artwork depicting Maria and Hagino, as well as Hagino’s ship, Blue. It’s pretty much the same cover used in volume 6 of JPN version. I’m glad Sentai Filmworks decided to release this series in one package containg all the episodes rather than multiple volumes (JPN got 6 volumes — that’s only two episode per disk!).
