As everyone knows, and I mean E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E, Grand Theft Auto IV was launched today. I haven’t seen such huge ad campaign for a video game – not even Halo 3 had this much publicity. I saw ads on buses, huge poster on buildings and billboards. Even news channels and newspapers talked about it. Rockstar must be proud.
I’m sure there are plenty of other sites (Kotaku, IGN, Gametrailers, 1UP, etc) have reviews and whatnot, so I’ll leave that to those guys. So instead, I’ll talk about the game cover and the packaging. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it short and simple.
Having only played the first GTA on PC, I was actually looking forward to this game. Haven’t played it yet, but I heard it’s a good game. Probably the best one in the series. Anybody else picking this up? Share your thoughts.
The front cover is like all the other recent GTA games. It’s made up of different characters from the game.
A typical back cover: small pictures, ESRB rating, and a whole lot of text you’ll never going to read.
This is what you see when you open the case: The disk, Liberty City map, and the Guidebook.
Since the PS3 cases are transparent, most games (if not all) come with inner artwork. The images are printed so you see it when you open up the case and take out the disk and the guide, but unfortunately, GTA IV doesn’t have that. That’s my only complaint.
The disk. Do all the disks have the same character? I saw some video on YouTube where the disk had a different character on it.
The Guidebook is pretty interesting. They have made it as if you’re looking at a brochure. There advertisements in it.
And here’s the map. It’s huge.

Me want…but saying this game had a larger media blitz then Halo 3 is…not true. Didn’t G4 spend the last half of their entire broadcast day outside a best buy waiting for the Halo 3 launch?
Now I don’t know about over there…but up here EVERYONE did a midnight launch for Halo 3. Best Buy, Circuit City…Everyone.
Just the Game Stops were open for GTA4…

this game rocks, since you can start multiplayer in an instant, just by using your cell phone. But all in all, IMMERSIVE AS HELL!
