Picked up Shaman King – Kang Zeng Bang volumes 21-24 from FedEx yesterday. Amazon-Japan’s shipping is crazy expensive ($30!), but it’s super fast. I think it took two business days this time. Pictures and descriptions after the jump.
So for covers, we got Horohoro [vol.21], Iron Maiden Jeanne [vol.22], Hao [vol.23], and Lyserg [vol.24]. I’m surprised to see Hao on volume 23. Since these reprints are going to be 27 volumes in total, I thought we’d see Hao on volume 25 and Yoh on volume 26. And a group-shot for the final volume (similiar to the original final volume cover).
Guess I was wrong. I’m sure we’ll see another Yoh cover, but what I’m really looking forward to is another Anna cover.
Saw this picture and thought “wow, Yoh looks really cool!”. He looks a lot more grown up and mature than the Yoh we see in these chapters. Perhaps this is from upcoming new chapters that Takei was working on for the final volume.
Also, volume 24 contains the first of many “new chapters” that Takei drew for the real conclusion of Shaman King. In this chapter, we see the fight between Marco and Luchist. We finally learn how Marco died.
Hao also becomes Shaman King in this volume [24]. Yoh’s group journey into the Continent of Mu in order to defeat Hao during his ceremonial sleep while he’s being united with Great Spirit.
RELAX is one of the short-stories where we see Hao assembling his subordinates. It’s really a nice chapter; one of the very few moments we get to see things in Hao’s perspective.
Lastly, starting form volume 21, Takei has included “VISIONZ” in the back of the volumes. These VISIONZ are “Funbari no Uta” chapters from the original final volume of Shaman King. You can read more about that here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funbari_no_Uta.
Only three more volumes to go!

I’m not into Manga I’m more of a comic book guy. I loved the Lenore series. District X is pretty good, I still have more of those to read. Also I need to pick up this vampire huntress series my buddy brought on a road trip, they were pretty good, I forget the name though…

I’m the opposite of Robobvious…I’m not into comic books but I’m really into manga. I finished vol 2 of Shaman King and I really like it so far. Now…I’m reading Yotsuba, followed by xxxHolic.

I’m with WanderingMind here – more into manga than Western comics. Haven’t been reading much lately, but I’m following ARIA, Negima!, Mushishi, and Yotsuba&! (gotta get the Yen Press versions now orz). I’m also reading the Shana novels and Faust, though I haven’t seen any new issues of the former lately. Still trying to get back to NHK, but my wallet’s been hemorrhaging money lately.

hello, thanks for the pics, I am thinking about buying KZB chapters, but I am a bit confused, may you please tell me where can I look for them? I have never bought anything on the Internet, so I do not really get it and I have not found a website that sells KZB…
thanks again and hope you can help me

@Jilted
You can import them through reliable online retailers such as Amazon Japan or Benippon. I mostly use Amazon Japan because they get more volumes. Benippon is sold out of them sometimes.
For both sites, you’ll need to make an account first. They’re gonna ask for your Credit/Debit card. Also, Amazon Japan is in Japanese, but if you click on the items, there should be a link somewhere on the page where you can switch it to English.
Amazon Japan’s Shaman King volumes
Benippon’s Shaman King volumes
ShamanKingNation has a nice little guide [ Link ] for importing the new volumes.
If you have never shopped online, a word of warning: don’t just trust any site. There are tons of sites out there that are not secure. Your credit card information can get stolen.
Amazon is a reliable site. I’ve shopped at Benippon too, so I can tell you they’re fine.

Hello thanks for the information but I have a question, and since you have all of the volumes out so far I was hoping you could help. I’m about to buy two volumes of Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang, and since I cant read japanese I buying it strictly for the art. Gandara is currently my favorite team and I would like to purchase two volumes that contain their character profiles, but I cant find any information on the internet telling which they are in. Could you tell me which characters are in which volumes so I can buy the ones that I want. Thanks for reading I hope I’m not asking to much. ^^

You’re welcome!
Yes; volume 17’s character profile for Gandara contains only Sati’s team (Lady Sati, Komeri, Daiei) and their spirits (Dainichi, Batoh, Jizoh).
The other members of the team (Yainage, Jackson, and Kado) appear in volume 20. These three are the team that fights Team Ren.
I took some pictures of the two volumes. Images 1-3 are from volume 21 and the rest from volume 17.

Other than Teams Nyorai and Myo-o there are another two teams (or one team with accessory shamans).
Some sites did mention the three Ten members by name. Do they appear also on the revised editions?
NB : I got all 32 volumes from the old series. I await the new ones (especially those with team Gandhara).

Do you think you could get a better pic of Yoh with his Byakkou? He’s my fav character and just looks so awesome. :

@Fudou
No, they only have Lady Sati, Komeri, Daiei and the other team (Yainage, Jackson, and Kado).
Wow, you got all 32 volumes, huh? I only have the last volume of the old ones, so that’s why I’m purchasing these reprints.
@AsakuraX
Unfortunately, that’s as good as I can take without ripping the volume open. Heh. I’m sure there will be scans available soon from Mankin-Trad.

It’s cool. Thanks for replying fast too. :)
*On a side note, I too have all 32 volumes (1-18 in english and 12-32 in french (at the time I bought them, only 1-12 were in english, so I bought the rest in french, and I thought about having all the english ones too, but then I told myself nah)). Just felt like saying that. :P

Thanks for the note.
Well, I was following the manga since 2002, until the last volume (32) came out in 2006.
Team Ten was supposed to contain Ion-Li, Seikyou and Mami. It seems that they appear (and/ or are identified by name in the new volumes; the series never published in the original 32 volumes).
NB: I hope that if Kanzenban is a success that the anime gets reedited (like with FullMetal Alchemist)

Note the following:
Gandgara does make several brief appearances:
- Nyorai (or Dainishi?) in Volume 1.
- In Episode 5 (Anime): A lady ointed on an elephant looking like Ladi Sati (or as we know her in the Anime “DaiReiDou”)
- Lady Sati (Volume 13) mounted on an Elephant
- Seikyou appears alond with Lady Sati and Daei in Volume 19 (Chapter 162).
- Gandhara’s appearance in Volume 22 (Saving Ryu form certain death: Sati, Kado, Yainage, Daiei, Komeri, Jackson…
- Then all of them are shown (including “what appears to be Ten”) in Volumes 26-27, before Tsukigumi sends them all to hell.
- The rest : between Volumes 28 and 32, where they make brief appearances.

Oh, my bad. I thought you were asking if they appear in the new character profile pages.
Oooh, Lady Sati does a cameo in the anime? I gotta re-watch that episode~

In the Anime, aither her or that DaireiDoh, that 10 year old of Episode 50.
And yes, as Takei (or rumours online were spread) dentified the three members of “Ten”, I got to the conclusion that the real ending of KanZenBan will include their charater profiles. (Takei represents 11 to 12 shamans ans only seems to have identified 9, if we include Mami, Ion-Li and Seikyou and the last two (the giant with the wooden masque on theface and the girl with eye glasses (put of the 11 or 12, only 6 appear on charater profiles).

Ah, then you want to pick up volume 15. It contains character profiles of Hana-Gumi and their spirits:

Hana-Gumi appear in character profile of more than one volume, but with different outfits and without their spirits.
They’re also on the cover of volume 18.

Try volume 12 (old series), perhaps vol 6 kanzenban… (assuming that Hao starts appearing in Volume 6)
