A Cogito outbreak spreads through Romdo and the city falls into chaos. Vincent incites the people to revolt, pushing them to hunt down and kill all AutoReivs.

 

Two days has passed since Vincent, Re-l, and Pino reached Romdo, but, as Re-l later reveals, as soon as they got to Romdo, Vincent transformed into Ergo Proxy and disappeared; only to appear randomly through the city and provoke humans to fight against AutoReivs. I should also mention that a Cogito outbreak has spread through the city and a lot of the AutoReivs are infected.

Re-l, while searching for Vincent, finds a familiar group of people from the first few episodes. These are the people belong to the company who was responsible for destroying and fixing AutoReivs (Vincent was working for them before he left Romdo). They inform Re-l of the situation and then leave to destroy some more AutoReivs.

Ergo Proxy infiltrates the lab where they Daedalus was keeping Monad Proxy’s dead body for experiments. Upon taking a closer look, Ergo Proxy notices a plaque on Monad Proxy’s neck with the words “Ergo Proxy No. 13″ written on it. As you know by now, one of the necklaces Vincent has around his neck has number 13 (it’s written as “XIII”), while the new one he acquired a few episodes before has been marked with number 1 (“I”).

While he’s still trying to figure out what’s going on, Ergo Proxy hears a voice behind him. Trying to scare off the source of the noise, he jumps and corners that person. To his surprise, the source of that noise was a familiar-looking teenage girl who gently puts her hand on Vincent’s face. Vincent asks why she isn’t afraid and she replies that he has a kind face and expression. Vincent notices something familiar about this girl, so he asks her name; she replies “Re-l Mayor”. She then blushes and runs away. If you haven’t figured out yet, this is the little girl we saw some episodes ago… the Re-l copy Daedalus created to fulfill his Raison d’etre. I mentioned this scene because it’s an important piece which is gonna come back in the next two episodes.

Re-l confronts Daedalus and asks him question regarding the city’s situation. I should mention that their relationship is not as close as it used to be before. Daedalus even calls Re-l a “traitor” for leaving the city, but in the end informs her that the person who sent those AutoReivs to kill Re-l (episode 07), was not Raul Creed (as they initially thought), but Re-l’s own grandfather, the Regent, Donov Mayer.

At this time, bot Re-l and Ergo Proxy are at the Regent’s sanctuary. Ergo Proxy, who got there a little bit earlier, walks up to the Regent and starts chocking him. This is when Re-l comes in; she is shocked to see this. Pointing her gun at Ergo Proxy, she tells him to stop, but he isn’t listening. He chokes the Regent until he dies. He then goes to attack Re-l. This is when a gun is fired from a corner of the sanctuary and we see Raul, with a “I’ve-gone-cuckoo” expression on his face, holding a gun. He used one of the anti-Proxy bullets Daedalus developed to shoot at the Proxy — who manged to avoid a headshot by sheilding his face with his hand. This episodes ends Raul laughing manically while the bullet’s harmful effects are spreading though Ergo Proxy’s vains.
