So today was my first day working at Apple! Well, not really working since today was only training. We’re gonna have six days of training and then the real work begins! They’re opening a new store in a mall near where I live. It’s very exciting!
We had around 50 people in today’s training which was basically all the ground rules and job description. It sounds really boring, but amazingly enough, they managed to make it fun. We were there for eight hours (well, we got two, 15 minute break plus an hour lunch), but I never felt bored or tired. We had group activity and whatnot. It was very pleasant. We met at a nice hotel and used one of their conference rooms. They divided us into five groups of 10 people. Everybody seems nice and happy! It’s almost too good.
The best part, almost everyone who’s hired is college student; we’re all around the same age! I can actually talk about stuff to my co-workers! My previous job, at Macy’s, my co-workers were all adults! All grown-up women whom the closest thing we had in common was that they had kids about my age. Psh. But not here! This is great. The exceptions are our managers and a couple of positions where people wouldn’t take the company seriously if the representative were kids. Heh.
The real training starts tomorrow; this is when we get to play with all the iGadgets and computers. I’ll take my camera with me to take some pictures. This is the first time that I’m actually excited to go to work! Heh.
Pictures below are from the package I received last week.

Lucky bastard! I want to work at apple. As an employee of Apple, don’t you get a free iPhone? I wish I was able to find a decent job. It’s hard when you live in a small hellish town.

Yeah…I’ve always admired Apple. They managed to make retail stores a fun place to be. I don’t own any Apple products but I still go into my local Apple Store whenever I’m in the Cherry Creek Mall…
And Apple employees are pleasant all the time. They have people they pay just to talk to customers and answer their questions…you don’t get the “What!? You just wanna ask questions and not buy anything?” attitude that you get at another store. (I used to work at CompUSA)…I know the difference.
Good for you! I’d work there if I knew anything about Apple…

@RimDot
Hah! I wish they’d give us free iPhones. We get some discounts and whatnot (and some softwares for free), but that’s about it.
@Alucards
You really don’t have to know anything about Apple or Macs… that’s why they give you training. If you know about computers in general, you’re qualified.

Wow, that’s awesome! Only jobs I held were 1-month summer jobs in a supermarket and a department store. I was sophomore and junior back then, so all my co-workers were either college students or significantly older than me. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your work.
