Finding himself in a bizarre live game-show, Vincent’s trivia knowledge is put to the test as he battles for his life.
This volume of Ergo Proxy is too crazy for me to summarize. The previous episode, this, and the next episode are all very, very entertaining to watch, but a pain to summarize. I just can’t do it. All you need to know is that our heroes are in a game-show which is a mixture of Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Jeopardy. The episode is very informative… we learn about the Proxy project or how Proxies became Proxies. Lots of good stuff and you just have to watch it to understand.

When I first saw this, I said to myself: WTF?!!!
But as I sat and watched it, I began to realize that this episode was a sort of background to the story and origin of the Proxies. I think the creators of this anime wanted to really mess with your mind, bombard with you flashy visuals and quick pacing of questions to let you intentionally miss out/overlook key details (answers from the game show)! You have to re-watch it to get a grasp on very important details like the Boomerang Project, the methane hydrate issue, human migration to space etc.
It was quite a revelation too that there is a Raul and Pino connection of sorts. It also solidifies Raul’s obsession to capture and/or kill Vincent Law. To me it seems his beef with Vincent is very personal.
Also, who wouldn’t love Re-l and Pino at this point in the series? They are both adorable and likable in their own unique way. Pino is very cute, funny, charming and childlike and Re-l’s bitchiness takes badass to a whole new level. Re-l for all her shortcomings and vulnerability is still human and is emotional (though often times she tries hard not to convey it) and that is what makes her endearing to the viewers.

Had to watch this episode a couple of times before understanding its purpose.
Like you said, a lot of information gets presented in a short amount of time and unless you watch it multiple times, you’re bound to go “WTF”.
