While resting in a long-abandoned dome, strange occurrences take place and the trio’s lives are endangered.
Episode 14 is so confusing, I’m not even gonna bother summerizing it. Without watching the episode, there is no way you’d understand what happenes just by reading a summary. All I’m gonna say is that Vincent, Re-l, and Pinno arrive at an abandoned dome with zero population. But after spending a few hours, strange things occure. In this abandoned city, a shape-shifting Proxy lives.

This episode aims to mess up your mind again. I initially thought that there were some inconsistencies with the scenes (thought flawed editing) but it dawned on me that there were two Re-ls and two Vincents! It explained pretty well the re-occurence/repetition of some scenes, good thing Pino was there to serve as a reference point! =)
Also, I thought that the episode’s title Ophelia was going to be another Proxy. The supermarket showed Ophelia in the cash register LCD diplays etc but I was pleasantly surprised that Ophelia was inspired by Shakespeare’s character in Hamlet. the giveaway was Re-l’s floating corpse in the river. It bore an eerily striking resemblance to John Everett Millais’ painting of the same title.
This episode further reinforced my admiration for this anime. It is really well thought of, unpredictable, brilliant in its concept and does not shy from literally F_cking your mind!

Definitely one of the most memorable episodes.
I laughed when Re-l mentioned at the end how it was easy to spot the the Proxy since it didn’t have a shadow.

So I watched this episode a second time and it made total sense. It actually uses flashback storytelling about their encounter with a doppelganger proxy. The dome on the horizon at the beginning is likely the jeopardy dome (the next episode). I like.
Beautiful screencaps by the way. Thanks.

Oh, I didn’t realize that (flashback storytelling). Even though I have seen the episodes more than once, I never really thought about how this episode was played out.
And thanks for the compliment about the screencaps!
